French Rossers

Post by simple1 » Wed Aug 11, 2004 12:38 am

Yet again I fell foul of the french politz on the A26, last year it was €750 for having a radar detector in the car even though it was not turned on, this year for speeding
They claimed that I was doing 157 kph, when infact my speedo was reading 90 mph or 143 kph and had been for some time as the cruise control was driving. When I asked to see proof of my speed I was hustled into the back of the parked van and told that my car would be confiscated if I gave them any more grief, their attitude hardened when i started speaking fluent french. Net result was an hour at the side of a toll booth and my wallet lightened by €90. The French law really is an ass, they seem to be able to do what ever they want without an chance of appeal. Diffinately going to fly next time :bash: :dung:

Wasn't a Friday was it? On my last three trips I've seen very little police except for Fridays, when there seems to be a radar trap around every bend. I've had a lot of hard looks from Les Flics at my S6, but my speed has been dead on the limit every time.
Interestingly, I reckon Audi speedos over-read by 4mph at 75. Found this on both my last A6 and current S6 when I used my aviation GPS in the car (it has a speed reading).

Was actually a thursday night, just before dark. I think it was about 8.45 pm. Only saving grace was that they stopped lots of other cars, the majority of them French or Dutch and were handing out fines of anything upto €250 for much the same speeds as they claimed I was doing.

Now WTF is that supposed to mean ?
U think rs246.com readers and fans are only brits or what ?
Then all u need is to "loot a clue".

I've posted here several times about the toughening of speed tickets in France and gave either urls for speed traps or advice for not getting your license confiscated, as the rs246 delegation to the Le Mans-Bugatti track day remembers.

But please keep in mind that this is a place where u can drive 130kp/h. Is that the case in the UK ?
No it's not.
Does it mean I won't come over to an rs246 Donnington or Oulton Park track day ?
No.

So please save the pissing monkey on France.

Stefan Linke is the sales guy, Peter Link is the chip tuner.

But you are right about the British friends of Le Pen.

Keep thy hair on fellas...............my comments were made to warn others heading on their summer holidays, not as an attack on France, although I would be inclined to encourage the English Traffic branch to behave in much the manor with French registered cars, something already in hand I read, as an English traffic officer was stopped and fined in France in his own car and now takes revenge on anything french and normally includes a free MOT at the side of the raod anywhere in Kent. Read the article on ABD.org :biggrin3: :thumb:
