6000 miles out of the rear tyres of an M3 is a bit on the low side although I suppose you did two track days on them. Of the OEM tyres typically the Michelins last longer than the Continental.
On my old M3 on 18" wheels I got 14000 miles out of the rear Michelin PS1 with no track days. I doubt I'll get 14000 miles out of the Pirelli Neros on my CSL.

There's no real difference between VAG dealers and BMW dealers in terms of service. What counts is your relationship with a particular dealer - it pays dividends to build up a relationship with a particular dealer so that if you do have product difficulties they are on your side. I've been using the same VAG dealer in the Midands for the last 18 years and I still take my RS2 back to them for service even though it involves a 200 mile round trip as I know I'll get outstanding service from them.
