Newbie info rqd. and any former impreza drivers out there?

Hi all,
i am new to the forum as you may have guessed!
i am currently an impreza wrx sports-wagon driver and have had two years of fun modifying it. great drivers car and easy to tune. currently running around the 300 brake mark and looking to increase that to 350 with the aid of the as yet unfitted bits in my garage and a friend who is good with mapping!

looking to the future though and one of the obvious choices lies with our friends in Germany and not Japan. i like the estate car vibe. but am looking for something a little more refined for my next car.
ideally an RS4 would suit my needs perfectly. i am on the isle of wight and do a few mainland miles inc one or two trips to the continent each year, but the main focus of my 12k odd miles per year is here on the isle.

with the roads being what they are here (deteriorated) the impreza suits me fine. its rally credentials are ideal and its a hoot to drive, with the combination of adverse cambers, twists turns and a good few straights to blast along!

i have a few questions:

1: is there an Faq where i can find out the power outputs of the various models of Rs4? i understand that they came with different bhp/torque manufacturer of prepared.

which leads nicely on to my next question...

2: what is the tuning potential? the subaru community have a many options in this area and the online forums are rich with knowledge. the possibilitys' are seemingly endless.

i am the sort of person that is very involved with my cars and i do like to modify and improve. i want to know if the Rs4 is the sort of car that will satisfy me.

There's a sticky post at the top of the RS4 forum for the stock figures.

Most of the tuners state the power increases:

Stock ~ 380 bhp
Stage 1 (Chip Only) ~ 430 bhp
Stage 2 (Chip & Exhaust) ~ 460 bhp
......
Stage x (Too much to list) ~ 600 bhp

i tend to fall into the category of stage x, which is somewhere after the chip and exhaust combo.

who are the names in the tuning world? what zorsts are the best for this model and who is the best mapper in the business?

does anybody go for the full de-cat or this not possible with the ecu's on these cars? i have a tame MOT tester so emissions would not be an issue.

purely asking because with the impreza you have the option of either high flow cats or full decat - nearly everyone opts for the full de-cat. this is not a problem with the ecu on these cars.

I'm no expert on tuning but have generally only heard talk of high flow cats being used. Why not give AMD or Kim Collins a call? I'm sure they'd be more than happy to get you up to speed (so to speak).

The Audi engine is far more sophisticated than the Subaru engine, so removing the cats completely will be a headache, although if you have the money and time to sort the problems (most UK tuners will not offer it as standard), then I'm sure you can do it.

I am an ex-Impreza driver so I'll mention what I'm sure you already know: The RS4 is a heavy car which is more suited to the track than a rally circuit. Sounds like you are tired of driving a rally car with an interior which is made out of recycled plastic? Yes the Audi is more refined, but you will lose much of the rally car feeling that you are used to.
