One of mine failed completely on Saturday, 7 days after the car had a 40k service at truly vast expense at Docklands Audi, leaving me with a clattering 3-cylinder engine.
Not a complicated fix to buy and fit 4 new ones but I'm pretty hacked.
I gather this is a very well-known problem and so I am wondering if this is something Audi should have noticed (the car now runs much better than before so must have been faulty for some time?) or expected to reimburse me for?
For the moment we'll leave aside the fact I've discovered I was charged for fitting new rear brake discs and yet none were fitted.........

When I had the TT I asked my dealer to change them all out at one of the times it was in and all was done without fuss. If you ask you get otherwise they wait until they fail. Basically if they was to do all of them it would be a huge recall (we are talking millions of coil packs). I not saying that they shouldn't but the sums of money involved is incredible.
With regards your particular dealer - all I'd say is they do have a reputation and it's not one I'd be proud of.

Skoda dealers have been instructed to inspect all cars that come into their hands for the faulty coilpacks. My Octavia vRS had all the coilpacks replaced FOC when I took it in for it's 10,000 mile service as a matter of course. I didn't have to request the work specially. To be honest, I can't see why Audi dealers wouldn't be doing the same.
