Just got back from my hols. I spent most of the journey at about 150 kph, but occasionally went up to 190 kph.
I had no problems at all, although I hardly saw any police. I also found that the much-advertised radar traps were very rare on my route (Calais to Lyon). Also the gaps between the tolls seemed to be too long for use in speed-monitoring anyway (because due to trucks and piss-poor driving by most of the French, my average speed was probably legal anyway!).
I think it also helps to be in an estate with a roof-box. I passed a police patrol at 150 kph in the rain and they didn't seem to pay any attention!
