I have been in an N reg rover 820 si, what a load of junk !!

Old people look at it as if its a work of art !

I live in America ... land of the loafer. [img]images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] Haven't driven any Rovers ... but maaaaan ... plenty of very akward vehicles. Everything from beat up old Crown Victorias, to Toyota Avalons. Worst was an old 55 Willys. No power steering, brakes, no hydraulic clutch ... Small Block V8 with Muncie 4 speed and sloppy tall shifter ... all in a VERY short wheelbase Jeep monstrosity. Great off-road capability but on road it was a disaster! You thanked god every time it came to a complete stop with its four wheel drum brakes from 1955. Insane ...

Gotta be my friend's Ford Escort.
I had done nearly 200,000 miles and I'm not sure it had been serviced properly in about three years! Shocks must have gone long before!

It really was everything bad you have ever heard about the marque rolled up into one hateful, unreliable, dangerous little package. It has coloured my view of TVR ever since.

Ford Sierra 2l Ghia Automatic. I was unfortunate enough to have to drive this object for five months whilst I was awaiting delivery of my company car (Rover 216GSi).

Citroen Saxo 1.1 no power steering, cheap and flimsy.
Seem quite popular though, think this is down to the free years insurance.

Im sure i heard that the lotus esprit turbo was a great fast car (for the money and its age), very quick round the top gear track as well.

Torque steer like you wouldn't believe and it drank more oil than it did petrol, and it was pretty thirsty on the fuel front. Dangerous to drive and bits kept falling off.
Totally and utterly CRAP !!

There are worse cars out there than that - try driving an old rover metro or maestro or montego.
