Anyone fancy winding up some Fiat boys ?
Re: Anyone fancy winding up some Fiat boys ?
Blinding cars those Evo II's, just a little bit expensive to run. Fear the £2k "service" that my friend just had, and to top it off, the gearbox went on the way home
Random ECU fuse blowing, rust (body and chassis), electrics - the car has litterally spent more time off the road than on.
Still looks the nuts though

Re: Anyone fancy winding up some Fiat boys ?
Oh.. I think FIAT spa have given us more than our fair share of cool cars over the years..
Considering that FIAT group owns Fiat, Lancia, Alfa, Ferrari and Masserati.. and just about the rest of Italy.
I had an Alfa GTV 2.0 v6 Turbo as a company car once.. had to give it back tho... kept banging my head against the roof when it went over lumps on the road.. and the seats were terrible (although they looked nice). It made a nice noise tho and went pretty well.
That was the only FIAT group car I've ever had tho.. I'd love to replace the Saab 9-3 with an Alfa 147 GTA tho

so would I - that's why I have one.
I never thought there was that much difference between a Golf and an A3/S3 but after driving a golf around for 3 months whilst my car was off the road (!) the Audi is streets ahead interior wise etc. Shame it shares the same underpinnings really.
I always refer to my car as a properly finished-off Golf - however I do agree that the changes made to the R32 should have really been applied the S3 (except the engine - you can keep the V6 non-turbo'd lump for me.) and the R32 shouldn't exist.
Is it me or does the Mark 5 golf look like a Honda Civic???
M3 CSL - Silver Grey, a few options.

Re: Anyone fancy winding up some Fiat boys ?
Yup 355 is just a toy (but I've done over 10,000 miles in 18 months, so its no sunny-Sunday-only car).
To be fair, its as much about owning it as driving it, and the looks from the gurlies in their TTs, and the jealous "I haven't seen you - I refuse to stare" looks from the blokes.
Seems to me that a decently tweaked RS4 / 6 will eat the 355 and would even do so with a quarter of a tonne of B&Q flatpacks in the boot.
Don't even start on the reliability issues - everyone knows Germany leads the way on this subject, although I must admit that the Ferrari is still on its first set of wheels
As for the Coop engine types - the 93 - 96 16 valve models did indeed use the Integrale engine. VERY tunable and pretty strong. 195 bhp as standard, easily tunable to 230+ and with deep pockets can get to utterly ridiculous figures (best we've seen from a Lancia is 750+)
The 96- onward cars had the lovely five cylinder engine (sounds just like an Audi 5 pot). 220bhp as standard, plus 12" discs and four-pot Brembos and a good few other improvements.
0-60 in 6 ish, 0-100 in 14.5 and 155ish top end. The 0-100 makes for raised eyebrows from many so-called supercar drivers (to 100, it out accelerates the standard Boxster, the Maserati 3200GT, NSX F-Matic, S8 (by 0.1 sec) S4 (by 0.2 sec) Jag XJR, Impreza, TT225, Mitsubishi 3000GT, S3 (by 0.9 sec), Noble M10, etc etc etc.
When you add in the fact that my Coop cost me just £5k, you can see why we are enthusiastic.
Great thread - nice to be considered, rather than just dismissed as insignificant - the sign of true car enthusiasts, rather than a "our cars are the greatest" type forums (you know who I mean).

Re: Anyone fancy winding up some Fiat boys ?
0-100, the 20v is quicker, but over a 1/4 mile, the S4 is quicker - go figure ! I guess it's down to changing gears right at the 100mph mark.
The difference is that the S4 will do sub-6 sec 0-60 wet or dry and is so easy to launch. I can't imagine any FWD with 200bhp being anywhere near as easy.
