al these concept type cars seem to indicate that the RSR is the culmination of all the designs so hopefully one will finally make it from the drawing board to production

You can see this one-off at the new Audi museum in Ingolstadt. Produced in 1991.

Can't remember if it was a runner but new museum is crammed full of all manner of cars from their early days. I was there last October and it was superb. Recommended visit.
