RE: trackers
My car came with a tracker monitor on it.Told my insurance company but it was more in subscription for the year than saving on insurance.
RE: trackers
Don't expect a drop in premium for fitting a tracker...just personal satisfaction and peace of mind. Might be worth considering fitting an after market alarm system as well as a tracker. Something with anti-jacking technology would ensure that the car won't go too far if nicked.
A tracker can let you know where the car is if someone nicks it using alow-loader and an anti-jacking alarm system will only allow scumbags to drive the car a little way from you.

Just to echo what has been said. Tesco/Directline insurance official line is that you get a discount on a single piece of security equipment be that a Tracker or immobiliser and they are both worth the same percentage discount, its only a benefit if you have something that cannot be replaced (rare car) or your an insurance company who wants to reduce total loss claims IMO.
Piece of mind - yeah, but do you REALLY want your motor ranted around from cold, bounced off some kerbs and then handed back to you when recovered? I know I dont.

Re: RE: trackers
Exactily why i wouldn't have one, u might get it back but u wouldn'd be able to claim if your engine blew 2 days after car being returned, after the afore mentioned bouncing off the rev limiter from freezing cold!!bobbler wrote:Just to echo what has been said. not always true, as a lot of them are thrown on the back of trucks. they no they cant always get them going, so your expensive 500bhp motor might be ok....better than getting book value, when you have spent 6K on the lump.

Yeah fair enough, but I think its more important to declare your mods so that they are covered than leave it to chance.S4 wrote:not always true, as a lot of them are thrown on the back of trucks. they no they cant always get them going, so your expensive 500bhp motor might be ok....better than getting book value, when you have spent 6K on the lump.
