I think the plan will be to take it to the European Court of Justice now, after that if it still gets defected then it's the end of the road.

That write-up doesn't convey well the case. Sure it's correct in concept, but that fact is that there are other ways to address the situation and outside very serious crimes like terrorism we actually DO have the absolute right to remain silent rather than incriminate ourselves which Section 172 takes away from drivers.

S172 asks you to name the driver at a certain time. It isn't a confession nor incrimination.

No one has had a problem with S172 (it's been around under different names for decades) until speed cameras came about.

I conclude that speed cameras are a problem, not S172.
