Washed it today, not too good
Every panel down the drivers side has marks (some of which have t-cutted out) deep scratches down to the primer, plus various dents, the door glass is marked also, found a big chunk of paint so can confirm car was indeed metallic silver!

Reported it at local police station, the policeman in charge was very helpful but admitted that without id'ing the other car any chances of a positive outcome are at best slim.

I'll post some pics later tonight, if sober

Sounds like you need one of these dent wizards to come and look at it, amazing what they can do as long as they can get to the back of the panel. Then hopefuly the paint bill will not be to high.

I saw some of these dent wizards round the corner from my gaff the other day - spraying the front valance on an irmschered up vectra.

Best bit - they were spraying outside and the overspray went all over the owners other car.....silver onto a black focus.

Wouldn't mind but they sprayed about 3 foot worth of bumper when the damage was only to a 2 inch section

I've used a "chip n scuff" type guy in the past and the quality of his work was very good. You cna get good bodyshops and bad ones, so I guess the same will apply to these guys too.

Sorry to hear that Rich, it's like we didn't have sufficient daily problems or stress!

There are so many aggressive people in our society... And it's interesting that you can notice when economy goes down, it influences directly a big part of citizen.
In Switzerland, when fuel prices go up, people become such freaks ! In fact, the higher the prices are the faster they drive (and more fuel waste...!), then when prices go down, they become normal. It's incredible how they react to those changes.
Then, those people can't express their "anger" at work (because they're afraid to lose their job), in the streets (because they're afraid to be beaten when provocating someone), so they "express" it in the traffic, while driving. In cars, they feel superior and secure.

A 'silly' hit-and-run is no less serious than a 'silly' mugging: a mugging could only entail someone nicking your wallet with no-one getting hurt, whereas a hit-and-run could mean the death of one/many ... or vice-versa ... where do you draw the line at what is 'silly' and what is not?


And as for "CID ...thousands of pounds worth of resources" !!!... that's a bullsh1t reason if i ever heard one; they spend many hundreds of thousands protecting parasite Royals, and so called dignitaries ... if you're going to cite financial-constraints then get your priorities in order FFS.

I would be very interested to see if the 5-10% of budget spent on traffic actually relates to 5-10% of all crime reported? Having said that - I think we know the answer..? Also I wonder what the ratio of spend to prosecutions are between traffic and everything else..? Now we all know it is higher for traffic, is that good? Or does it simply mean that money and time should be spent on the other areas to improve them?

On a closing point, About 7 years ago, some miserable fcuker tried to break into my Rover 220 turbo (don't laugh). They tried twice and on the 2nd occasion I caught them and shoulted at them and ran for them, they scarpered which is just as well as I could not have handled the situation. Anyway about £800 worth of damage AGAIN and I told the Police that this time I'd keep a hammer by the front door, I was told that I'd be up GBH/ABH/attempted murder etc. All this on the phone though, they would not come out and take fingerprints from the bodywork of the car, "not worth their hassle even if clearly visible"....isn't this how all crime starts?

I don't buy the arguement at all....and we should not mention the rules for one and rules for another joke -- Speed Camera fiasco going on just now. Lets not pretend it is isolated to one region either....
