How on earth I have not got any points ever I will never understand. I seem to be lucky somehow :) *

Has anyone heard from Fil about his 105mph? Fil, if you're reading this, hope it all goes well mate.

I saw a cyclist get pulled over this morning. Obviously not for speeding - but I suspect for skipping a red light. Now, what would be the situation here? Just a fine? Or, if the cops now he also drives, a fine and 3 points? Im guessing he'll just get a fine as he was on a non-motorised mode of transport!

* Watch me get 3 points this weekend now!!!

Pretty sure you can be issued points even if you don't have a lisence. Thats what happen to the young joy riders etc.. I think they automatically are issued when you get your lisence. Correct me if i'm wrong???

is that how the bans work that are issued when they don't have licences. daftest one i saw was a joyrider with no licence who got 24 months inside and a 12 month ban, and we think the custodians of law and order don't live in the real world.

When I were a lad, some mates at school went to the Magistrates Court for riding a moped without tax, insurance, licence etc etc. They were made to apply for a a licence and go back to court, whereupon the Magistrate said "thank-you, you're banned" or words to that effect!

I have had 21 points in 17 years all of which are for speeding, i have just lost 3 and lose another 3 in a month and will once again have a clean licence, for how long who knows. For all the tutters and huffers i am not going to say the usual 'im not proud of it' line because i really dont care. I have only been caught once in a 30 which was 33 and non residential and the rest were all under 60 and never more than 5 over the limit i have just been unlucky in the fact that the Essex police and Norfolk Constabulary would rather hide behind bushes like rapists, muggers and paedeophiles as opposed to actually going out and catching them. But the law is the law i suppose and to that i must abide.

Work colleague got three points whilst on his push bike, nearly 40mph in a 30 limit. PMSL, even he thought it was hillarious, quite a trophy for his licence!

My wife got 3 points for doing 32 in a 30 zone. I told her to appeal it - but the nerd that she is was going on about "oh, the law is there for a reason, you know. I was above 30 so blah blah blah blah blah".

11 points (in the past 23 years) - never more than once offence on licence at any time, with the last 3 points about to disappear

3 points for doing 42 in a 30 zone - drove through Biggar in Scotland, and eventually thought I'd missed the sign signalling the end of the 30mph limit. Despite being amongst sheep, cattle and farms, the officer hiding in the hedge informed me that I was still technically in town, and the sign was 15 yards round the corner - UNFAIR COP

5 points for doing 98 on the M40 - empty road, saw the patrol car (laser) in the very far distance, slowed to 70 and continued at this speed for a few miles till pulled over - FAIR COP (although thought the points were on the high side...)

3 points for doing 95 somewhere on the way to Devon. Found a letter when I got home, reasonally happy to accept 3 points and not have to do the court thing - FAIR COP

I don't tend to speed at all in towns (and especially not through motorway roadworks and contraflow) but I guess I'll occasionally get caught for putting my foot down. Hopefully less so now with my Roadangel...

That is below the ACPO guidelines...speed limit + 10% + 2mph. So you shouldn't be done for anything less than 35mph - most areas offer "Speed Awareness" courses for these marginal speeds - still cost you £60 but you don't get the points on your licence.
I don't tend to speed at all in towns
That has always been my philosophy - especially as 70% of people get done on 30 and 40 limits.

None really, thought you might have know him - so better coming from someone who knows him rather than a complete stranger...that's all! A client of mine has just confessed to me for doign 99.3 on a motorway...he was fined £ 350 and got 5 points. I guess at 105, unless it is heavily contested, will involve a ban of some sort.

I met him at Woody's meet a while back. I've just PM'd him, so now just gota wait... hopefully with some good news.

As for the ACPO guidlines - I did tell my wife about the 10% thingy. But the nerd that she is wasn't having any of it - "speeding is speeding blah blah blah" I did wind her up a touch and told her that due to her 3 points our insurance went up by 300 quid. At first she felt bad. Then she just turned round and said "guess we'll have to sell the car and go for something a little cheaper on the insurance....." Now that's what you call turning the joke on the joker
