I very much doubt that an RS6 with 13 bhp more than an SL 55 would leave it for dead!!!! I admit that the SL is slightly heaver but this would conteract the lack of 4 wheel drive transmission loss.
Dont think there would be anything in it personally. Apart from traction off the line....

Me and Rich left this particular RS6 "for dead". So god only knows what we would do to the above cars.........

As we are in the bragging mode, my B5 S4 wasted an SL55 AMG and a 996 PorscheTT and my mates V12 DB7..........on the Porsche beasting the new owner was in the S4, he is on this forum somewhere....
All the other drivers were mightly pissed off as my car was badged a 1.9Tdi. Can you tell I miss that car...?

Is it a joke?
You kill 996TT??
You must have a supercharger or something like that.....because a 'normal" S4 is simply eated by the cars you say....

Read his signature. He had B5 S4, turbo charged, modified to produce 450bhp.......So on this occasion an S4 did eat a 996TT

guys i drive a sl55 and i map cosworths up to 550 bhp as my living, and i can assure you there is no way a s4 will destroy a sl55 in a straight line, one your car will have too much lag and the torque of the v8 supercharged merc engine is far superior, secondly the merc is two wheel drive and the audi 4wd sorry does not add up,the guy in the sl55 most of had his handbrake on or it was in a lay by,Sorry to be so straight to the point but i have driven some really fast cars in my time and i have never had a s4 or rs4 get any where near my car unless its wet.Dont think iam getting at audis as i have a rs4 b7 on order and i drive a 3.0 tdi avant as my everyday car,as harry hill would say FIGHT!!!!!,maybe meet up one day with this modified s4 and have a run round castle combe against the sl55,now that would be fun or iam going to nurbergring in april how about down there.

Big difference between a cosworth engine at 2 litre with one turbo and a B5 S4 or RS4 at 2.7 litre and two turbos for the same power. There is very little lag with these cars.
I've had a few goes against decent opposition and I'll take you up on your offer, lots of us will be at the ring 14-17 April. Have a look at the thread in the trackdays and meets forum. Hope to see you there.

give us some torque figures dave compared against the sl55,have driven several b5 rs4 which have been modded by amd and yes there quick but the argument here is this s4 against a standard out of the box sl55 there is no comparison believe me,and yes if you want a drag style comparison with a rs4 against a sl55 no probs,do lots of work with gareth nuttall and collins performance centre in congleton so will private message you for a meet up when im up there next mapping and we will get it on film so theres no argument.

standard torque is 700nm at 2750 rpm to 4000 rpm, dont want this to turn into a war its just my opinion a s4 with 450 bhp would not waste a sl55 as stated in a previous posting and iam happy to try and prove it and if wrong would be the first to bow down and say iam wrong,as previously stated we are talking about a straight run up to say 120mph,handling is far superior on the rs4 and s4 compared to sl55,why do you think i have ordered a rs4 because i hope it will be an all rounder.

Avant545 - We need to stay on thread here, Dave is right. But the S4 did eat it alive, 450 was a modest estimate, Doug reckoned more in the region of 480. Here is a 80-125mph run on video in the very car (it does it in approx 4.5 seconds), you'll notice the massive amount of lag the car has got...NOT! You should really get yoiur facts straight first.

Back to thread though.......those CSL's are quick, perhaps the CSL was re-mapped or something?

I had a play with an SL55 today and it was very very close. I pulled away slightly in third gear at the top end. Great noise from the merc, however I was surprised how it seem to run out of steam towards the end of the rev range....
