This IS general but , just got a 306 GTi6..........

Post by arS4 » Sun Nov 12, 2006 6:10 pm

As a 2nd car for the wife......... A Phase 1 306 GTi6 in White. standard. FSH.

and it's AMAZING!! :D

Had that feeling whilst driving the 180 miles home down the M6 - the one of "have I done the right thing?"
Turned off to come down the A49.....

By the time I'd got home, I pulled on to drive and the wife said "wow! the car looks great! Oh, by the way, take that coat hanger out of your mouth!!!":D Apparantly I was grinning slightly! :D

I have to admit, it's a great chassis considering it's front wheel drive, but still puts out 167bhp. The handling gives you SO much confidence in the car. Like a bl00dy go-cart!! Not as comfortable as the S4, nor as "urgent", but still a hoot!

I got it cheap. I mean REALLY cheap (bit of a risk, but I took my spannerman with me).

So what's wrong with it. Well, nothing really. It just needs some TLC and a shed load of cleaning. I'm restoring it back to it's original state (they're getting quite rare as standard now!)

Will put some piccies up at some stage - apologies if I haven't been on the board in a while - been too busy playing :D

Just in restoration at the moment - still going through the TLC at the moment :)

Will give you a shout tomorrow (thursday!) see how your rust bucket's performing ;)

I had a 306 xsi for a couple of years..ages ago, (with the 8 valve engine), a bit slower than yours, but it was an absolute hoot. If you drive then really hard you can get a bit or rear wheel stearing going on, its great.
Wifes got a cooper s now which is just as much fun, & supercharger sounds great :)
