The little bugger!

Post by SteveH » Sat Sep 23, 2006 9:54 pm

Out of nowhere we bought a New Beetle (albeit used) for the girlfriend. We were'nt looking for one, but the opportunity came up to buy it off a friend of mine who had been offered a miniscule price for it as part-ex for their new car. We gave a couple of hundred quid more and they then haggled for the new car as a cash sale so everyone was happy. Gift horse springs to mind :D

She doesn't do much mileage, and I know that they dont get the best write up in the world, but its a hundred times safer car than the old wreck that she had.

Anyway, its a 2L beetle, really quite tidy (alloys looked savage but 1 hour of virosol treatment and they look brand spanking now), small scratch on rear bumper is the only thing i can find at fault. The standard kit is quite impressive for the price; its the first time she's had power steering, ABS, ESP, airbags, aircon, CD changer, central locking etc etc so all is good.

However, does anyone have any tips on discreet mods for a beetle? either performance an/or interior & exterior styling. (no halfords neons, bass bins or spoilers please).
