B8 RS4 vs SQ5....regret if I switch..?

Thinking of chopping/selling my RS4 in for an SQ5, looking at the last of the V6 diesels as not a fan of the new model.

Better MPG, still scope to modify & more space
for family and dog and gives leaves room for another Golf-R to promote our APR side of the business.

Anyone gone from an RS4 to SQ5 as appreciate your feedback.

Not by choice but I went SQ5 after C7 RS6 ( which was stolen) . For me it's all I need nowadays 90% of the time I have baby and Mrs in the back.
Performance wise it's hilarious. Traffic light drag races with hot hatches shocks the hell out of most. I recently had a Golf R trying to get away from me only to pull over and ask "WTF is that?"
Handling wise it's surprisingly stable even on track at Donnington park a couple weeks ago in the wet.
Economy wise it'll do 45mpg on a run. 25-30mpg around town and 12mpg on track.
All in all it's an "Ok" car. Can't say I love it. But it is fun for what it is.

Some on here will disown you though cause it's runs on the devils juice.

cheers for that eddie

I was looking at a used RS6 C7 as a natural progression & had a loan of an RS7 for two weeks, power was amazing and a wonderful place to be, ceramics epic but it felt way too heavy for me on anything other than a smooth A-road or motorway I struggled to get on with it.
Dare I say it but it left me a little removed from the driving experience...making me wonder if the RS6 is set up different to the RS7, cant see it but maybe.

It would be fun around the Ring but it would be a waste on a normal uk track with the weight hence the lighter smaller route for track abuse

I keep telling myself to stick with the RS4 as love it but the miles are starting to creep up and i do a fair bit of travelling with work.

Ive driven a couple of SQ5's and they're are surprisingly quick sound like youre having fun on track also...!

Come on Glen, don't listen to Edward...drop this diesel weasel BS, and get TTS on the case. Bring a supercharger kit for the B8 to fruition, it needs resurrecting.

Diesels = given up on life!!!

Hi Sam & Fox

Charging options are limited.
Talked to a couple of Euro tuners who've done B8's and they were a pig to set up.

Will look again and going to see the RS5 at Goodwood launch soon which will be epic no doubt.

Keep you all posted

Gone from SQ5 to RS4, I loved the SQ5 but diesels like these are poss risk in terms of future values as diesel is being phased out by VOLVO and Renault. I moved away from diesel as future value was an important factor for me.

The wife has a SQ5 so i get to use it now and again and as said the turn of speed for a 2 ton behemoth is hilarious
if it was my car i would put on stiffer ARB's and see if i could get better hugging seats

With the SQ5 though....is it the speed or just the daft torque that's makes it feel rapid?

It's rapid full stop......... you give it WOT from stand still and it just keeps going and doesn't start to struggle until naughty+40 mph.

Yes torque silly up to 80
Chased an R8 once in the wife's and I was surprised how well it did to keep the distance respectible

Interestingly, I am hopefully just about to do the reverse switch, having had an SQ5 for 12 months or so.

SQ5 is probably the most practical 'family' car you can own.
0-60 in 5 seconds (or less with a tuning box).
It will handle sufficiently to out do most hot hatches - and gets better when you push it beyond the point where you think you should stop.
5 adult seats and a boot you can fit a dog and 4 suitcases in.
Driven gently 45+ mpg, driven normally 35-40mpg, driven hard 25-30mpg. I've not tracked it, but amazed that someone managed to get as low as 12mpg! :O
It sounds like a de-tuned V8 (low rumble) as there are resonators in the exhaust activated in Dynamic/Sport modes.

Genuinely, the only thing wrong with it... you have to go to the black pump, which is almost as frowned upon by Greenpeace as driving a 4.2 V8.

I hope you are not disappointed with it (if you went ahead). As I am sure I won't be with my reverse switch.
