Called in to my local Porsche dealer today for a look at a 918 they have in the showroom and ended up almost placing an order on a Macan GTS. I probably would have if they'd had a 3.0 petrol I could have tried. I'm going to sleep on it, I need to make my mind up quick as they already have 7 deposits placed.

What delivery time did they give? I understand numbers are limited for 2016, so likely already looking at 2017 delivery.

Not many Petrol S about! Mostly weasels.

918 is a thing of beauty.

Doodle - do they pump an engine type noise into the cabin of the Macan?

Something didn't sound quite right...

Dealer reckons they have 7 deposits already and will get a max of 8 cars for next year. He thinks delivery will be next summer which is slightly better than a standard Macan, which he says is currently 12 months. I rang the dealer I bought my Cayman from and they also have 7 deposits but didn't think I'd have a problem getting one and said anywhere between March and August. They basically don't know a great deal until the end of the month when they get their allocation. The GTS looks the best buy as it has a much better standard spec, slightly more power and better residuals.

918 is a customers car who also owns a La Ferrari.

Price for GTS vs S is pretty similar once boxes are ticked. I'd expect residuals to be strong, though the S isn't exactly struggling. Demand is still greater than supply. Diesel is a different matter, plenty to be had now.

You really do have a downer on the SQ5 don't you :| , there is no artificial sound system noise it is an actuator in the exhaust which actually sounds pretty deep and natural TBH.

Cant wait to see the duel between this, La Ferrari and P1 :jump_clap: has anyone seen any of these on track together?

Agree GTS do seem to be the sweet spot of any range and as you say, by the time you've specced up an S as you would want it is same money and probably better residuals, definitely if finance is your thing

Unfortunately his last outing in the 918 didn't go well.
