Rear seat conversion from 2-seat to 3-seat

Post by qrew » Sun Jan 17, 2021 10:58 pm

Hi!

Is there someone here who have converted their rear 2-seat to a 3-seat somehow?

Can it be done, or if you have a 2-seat C7 RS6, you are stuck with it?

I looked into it with a fair bit of internet research. The only way I could see was to buy a full A7 back seat off eBay but there are a few problems:

You’d need a middle seat belt receiver added in the middle of the car, I assume the mounting is there beneath the seat base but haven’t removed the seat base to check.

Obviously the front seats and back seats wouldn’t match and the A7 seats look sh1t in comparison to the RS7 seats.

INSURANCE, the RS7 is registered as a 4 seater so I assume adding a seat would be a big problem.

A S6 or RS6 rear bench will fit into the RS7.

Or you can buy an A7 rear bench, remove the cover, and fit an RS6 leather cover for it, which will match up as OEM.
I have a brand new RS6 rear leather cover if you need one.

To complete the conversion you will need the seatbelt latch which bolts underneath the rear seat to existing mount point and the complete left rear seat back which houses the actual centre belt. Or retrofit the belt into your existing back but it will need a full strip down.
