Resync key?

Morning

i picked up my A7 yesterday and the seller decided to change the remote batteries, now i am getting a error message when trying to start the car


key not recognised Hold key on back of marked area

is there anyway to resync myself or does it need to go to audi?

Stupid question time. Did you hold the key against the marked area while the car was on and displaying that message?

There's a bit on the dash, just beside the steering column iirc, last time mine did that I just had to turn the car on and off and it remembered/forgot it didn't like the key. I think I did it by getting someone to start the car while the key was still in my pocket outside the car.

If it's actually forgotten, then I think there's a way to resync a key but I've only ever seen the process done with a barrel ignition... not sure what the steps would be for 'smart' keys.

zzz is spot on, look for the key emblem on the central dash between disc slot and steering wheel column, hold the key against it and it resyncs
