my old TTRS was in front of Nudenut's 580PS R8 to 60/70 as it launched and hooked up so damn good and had such instant shifts... but at 80mph the V10 went past like I was going backward, it was ridiculous
Also & the point i first made that then caused you to defend for some reason is that the C7 S6 has the new 4.0litre TFSi Audi engine, which produces 420ps, yet the C6 RS6 has a 5.2litre bi-turbo Lambo engine that produces 572ps & both cars are of very similar weight, so which car on the face of it is the clever one?
What this does do is bode so well for the next gen RS6. If that has this same engine in a higher state of tune, mated with an s-tronic box then (stock) it could be able to compete with Nissan's mighty GT-R in the performance stakes, albeit both very different cars.

Yes but on that basis a 3.0TDi is faster than a B7 RS 4 if you want to stick to UK limits

Is there such a car doing sub 4.5 to 60?D_K wrote:Yes but on that basis a 3.0TDi is faster than a B7 RS 4 if you want to stick to UK limits
(not piss taking - I generally skip over anything running on derv)

The new Bi-turbo does 5.1
But how many 0-60 races do you have in your daily drive
I meant rolling starts

Re: C7 S6 vs. C6 RS6
Is that right Amar? I was sure the C6 RS6 engine was born for the Lamborghini unit. Perhaps I'm confusing it with the R8 V10.Amar wrote:*5.0 twin turbo V10 - Not really much (anything)? to do with Lambo, although there is a Lambo badge on the bottom of the sump IIRC. :SW8PMC wrote:David, i make the point again that in this country using UK limits it's quicker. Re: C7 S6 vs. C6 RS6
No it's not, nearly 1/2 sec between them, but I take the point that yes on a sprint these new diesels can stick with their petrol relatives. My new TDi A8 can hit 62 in 6.1.D_K wrote:Yes but on that basis a 3.0TDi is faster than a B7 RS 4 if you want to stick to UK limits
Comparison is a tad floored as the RS4 is considerably more dynamic than a TDi S-Line in many other areas & the S6 would be the same (as is the RS6).

Paul, as your S6 review was quite good, let's have one of the A8 too please, with photos.

Re: C7 S6 vs. C6 RS6
The gallardo did originally have a 5.0 V10 up until about 2008 - I would be stunned if the two units were not related.W8PMC wrote: Is that right Amar? I was sure the C6 RS6 engine was born for the Lamborghini unit. Perhaps I'm confusing it with the R8 V10.
Re: C7 S6 vs. C6 RS6
As I understand it Audi took the Lambo unit and re-engineered it to suit the production line meaning that in reality it shares very few identical parts with the Lambo unit.
Different pistons, bores and angle of cylinders is a couple of differences off the top of my head.
There is as Amar said a raging bull on the engine somewhere though

Re: C7 S6 vs. C6 RS6
My bone stock b7 RS4 ran 0-100 in 11.0 seconds on Saturday according to my Pbox, en route to a quarter mile time of 12.9 @ 108 @ a certified dragstrip. The S6 would whip my car's @ss. With a tune it would whip my @ss even worse. I imagine tuned S6 wouldn't be far off the tuned RS6 times you are quoting.D_K wrote:tuned C6 = 0-100 <8seconds
not many cars that can do that with a wardrobe in the back
60-130 the v10 would rape...but who cares what happens up around 100 to 130 frankly.

Re: C7 S6 vs. C6 RS6
I havent seen any tuned S6's running 11.7 sec quarters or better. There may be, I just havent seen them.
A 700bhp mapped C6 RS6 daily driver will run that time all day with driver plus passenger.
i can confirm D_K statement that "tuned C6 0-100 mph < 8secs."

C&D clocked it at what..12.1? Even if that is wrong and it runs 12.2 to 12.3, if you will notice the torque and horsepower curves are severely neutered at around 5500 rpm. Audi is bleeding boost off to suppress performance and leave themselves some headroom.
Just holding boost to redline will add a big chunk of power at the top end...and that should push it into the elevens I'm sure. All speculation of course, but I am comfortable with my guess.
