C7 S6 vs. C6 RS6
Re: C7 S6 vs. C6 RS6
no the C7 is c. 200kg lighter than the C6
i know the C6 interior has been around since 2005/6, but open the door and get into a well specific RS 6, and no way does it feel dated with those bad boy supersport seats, chunky flat bottom wheel, carbon interior, alcantara dash etc etc
genuinely preferred the interior of my RS 6 vs. the '62 plate A8 and it has everybit as much tech
are people really going to use the wifi thingy on these cars ? really ?

Pointless debate, maybe, the point here being you can chuck a map on and have a car that will take on some seriously expensive metal. C7 S6 will not offer that, and possible that the C7 RS6 won't either. And there's no real tech in the C6 gearbox unlike the C7. Don't forget tuning the C7 is going to limited by the torque that S-Tronic box can handle.W8PMC wrote:Pointless debate if you now have to tune the RS6. I'm describing like for like, stock vs. stock & can only quote the on paper figures. I'm sure the S6 could be tuned to unleash at least an extra 100 horses as it's the same unit as in the more powerful S8. MY point was the S6 is massively down on power & torque to a C6 RS6, must surely weigh the same, yet 'on paper' can match it on the important numbers whilst using 40% less fuel.
Agree some of the fuel saving is the Cylinder Deactivation & of course it's got one less blower & 1200 less CC, however that in my mind is a huge plus. It's a great appeal to me that when cruising on the Motorway for long distances i can get over 30mpg due to clever engine management when selceting Economy mode, but when switching that to Dynamic it can play with the bigger boys.
The stock figures for the C6 RS6 are pretty generous. I'd fancy my chances of disappearing into the sunset vs an S6, especially once you hit three figures. It's a monster, the acceleration is relentless, you're only just into 6th at 155.
As for the C7 S6 consumption figures, history tells us that these are optimal and not very real world. Still, you'd expect technology to improve this.
Anyway, I maintain that you don't own a 4 plus litre V8 to worry about fuel consumption.
Re: C7 S6 vs. C6 RS6
First of all what a great car to have as a loaner. I took my brand new S4 in for some work and got given a poverty spec A4 TDI.
Second I think you raise some very good points despite the opposition you are facing. I would be very tempted by an S6 over a new RS4 for a lot of the reasons you mention above. Trouble is its too big for my garage and I'm too poor.
Nice to hear your thoughts though.

Even the C7 saloon is a full 3-4 inches longer than my RS4 so I fear I may face the same as you Nicky, it is too long for my garage.
Re: C7 S6 vs. C6 RS6
My S4 fits in with about 2cm between the door and boot! It's an art getting into the exact position.

Re: C7 S6 vs. C6 RS6
The C6 is gentle (i.e. relatively slow) on the initial getaway from standstill in order to save not just the gearbox but also entire planet from certain destruction. But flooring it from any speed above 20 mph an unmodified C6 would destroy the C7 S6. Fuel economy won't be much different when giving it the beans, but the C7 will return much better mpg when bimbling around on 4 cylinders.W8PMC wrote: MY point was the S6 is massively down on power & torque to a C6 RS6, must surely weigh the same, yet 'on paper' can match it on the important numbers whilst using 40% less fuel.
Note: I don't do bimbling.

Re: C7 S6 vs. C6 RS6
To "correct" D_K, its only 75Kg for the two cars been discussedD_K wrote:no the C7 is c. 200kg lighter than the C6
From the brochures (all Avant figures as that all that counts )
C6 RS6 - 2025 kg
C7 S6 - 1950 Kg
C7 A6 3.0 TFSI - 1790 kg
Lightest one is the 2.0 TDI at 1640 kg
All Unladen weight - Which Audi always sates as - Vehicle’s unladen weight without driver (calculated in accordance with the current version of Directive 80/1268/EEC). The fitting of additional equipment may increase the vehicle’s unladen weight and drag coefficient, whereupon the potential carrying capacity and top speed will be correspondingly reduced.
The infamous 0-62 figures would be done with "best spec" car for the lowest figure, the C6 pretty much came fully spec'd with no options that would add weight (double glazing and sunroof is all I can think of) and the rest of the options would have probably lightened it (the sports seats, ceramics etc), the C7 pretty much needs everything adding to get it to a spec of what we would all want each bit adding a little bit of weight each time (BOSE must weigh a bit with all the amps and speakers) and whilst I cant see why I quote this but as its about 5 kilos of weight and I looked it up for a reason, a full C6 had a 80 Litres tank, C7 "only" has 75 litres
So to be honest I doubt a well spec'd C7 S6 would weight "only" 1950kg and would I guess would probably take a hit on its 0 to 62 ?
