19 or 20inch rims?

While thinking about winter tyres it occurred to me to put winter tyres on existing 19" rims and look out for 20" rims for summer.

Any complaints about ride quality on larger rims?

Ride in 'dynamic' is hard on 19" rims but fine. Will 20" rims affect it too much?

The previous S6 had 235/35r19 and I would expect 255/35r20 to feel similar although I have much more feedback from the road in the C7 than I remember in the C6.

I was thinking along the same lines ... also if changing from 19" to 20" rims, do we have to get the car recoded for the new rims / tyre sizes?

The 20" would be 0.01% different or 69.99mph versus 70mph. Negligible.

Next year - if I can find a nice set of 20's (for which the only tyre choice I can consider is P4S's at £800 a set) for less than £1200 (ie tyres and wheels for less than £2K)

how much does the offset affect the handling? ET45, ET48, and ET43 are all available in 20" it seems. ET45 being standard (at least on mine it is). What difference does a couple of mm either way make?

Very good move.
My S8 has winter tyres on the OEM 18" wheels and MPS4S's on the "final edition" 20" summer wheels.

Good fun out and about today, though there's so much snow on my (hilly) road that I did a bit of "snowploughing" on my first trip up the hill. :rocker:
( I think we had 6" to 7" snowfall yesterday and the front is rather lower than that as standard)

So, ET43 would be better than ET48. Think that 3mm could snag on the brake callipers.

But will ET43 affect handling?

Found a set of ET33 20” wheels and it appears they will fit, they are 12mm offset out from the wheel arch but my 19’s are 20mm from the arch so I think they should work?
