S7 Black Edition

Post by Paulm » Fri May 19, 2017 1:23 pm

Ah well the new one is on the way.

Sold the RS6 to start my 5 year plan to retire but recent pension changes scuppered that idea. Need a new toy

S7 Black edition, Sepang Blue 450bhp. Delivery not due till August but no real point picking it up then so will wait till September.

I wanted something a bit different.

New M5 but too far off and dont want the first of them. need to see what fails (if anything) then decide
New RS3 they will be like bum holes, everyone will have one lol
New RS5 everyone will want one
New RS4 as above
RS6 had one dont fancy another
RS7 not prepared to spend that amount of cash anymore
S6 looked a bit boring

Never seen an S7 and with right colour and wheel combo I think they look great. The Rotas on mine will be changed for black 10 spoke

Lovely. Hope you have got a good discount.
Could we have some more details on the 10 spokes?

Not sure what else I will do. prob lowering adjuster rods (air suspension) not to slam it but just make the wheels fit the arches better, milltek, remap. The older i get the less i can be bothered ripping everything apart.

I remember when i put my RS6 back to standard and thought it was probably fast enough.

See what happens. Should look a bit different

So its arrived. Done around 200 miles.

First impressions,

Slow  The wee S3 would be biting at its back wheels. I am sure it will loosen up and the miles rise

Lovely inside and out. Back edition looks awesome in Blue lol

Road noise is way better than the S3. Running 21" wheels the road noise is still a factor but more than acceptable.

Suspension is magic. Comfort is excellent. Dynamic is way better than the RS6. I am currently running in dynamic all the time and is very very good. I could not run the RS6 in dynamic it was just too hard. I am really impressed how it gets down the road. None of that daft tail wagging the RS6 did. Its still a very big car and by no means a checkable wee sports car but pretty good all the same.

Although the same gearbox as the S3 its way better. Changes are instant, no jerking when pulling away from stop signs. The S3 took to long to decide if it wanted 1st or 2nd then changed to 1st as you pulled away. Most annoying. The S7 seems to have this nailed.

MPG, as expected around 21 so far.

Mods so far,

Beep on lock and unlock

Key fob and interior switch activated to lower the tail gate

Lap timer activated, gives boost and oil temp

Not sure why that options are not standard anyway.

Still can find hidden menu

Couple things that are disappointing. Only 6.5" (thought it came with 8" but that's an option) MMI screen and no USB. For more of less a top of the range car that stuff should be standard.
