Audi S7 420hp to 450hp

Post by androidmarrs » Fri Jun 24, 2016 2:21 pm

Hi All,

I am considering selling my B7 RS4 and going for the Audi S7 ( RS7 is outside my price range but would have been nice). Just have a few questions for you people that are in the know.

I would like to know what is the difference between the engines for 420hp to 450hp S7? Is it just got a slightly heavier remap? Can some one confirm that the 450hp ones are the 2014 Facelift models?

Lastly, Do the the S7's from 2012 to up to the facelift models still have the cylinder on demand?

Cheers

Andy

The earliest S6s and S7s came with cylinder demand from launch

On paper, Audi quoted 414 bhp. In reality, they were making well over this stock (run in and on 99 fuel)

Be interesting to drive a prefacelift (run in and on 99 fuel) back to back with a facelift. Doubt there would be much difference?

Thanks for the reply Ian.

Do you know if the S7 engine is similar to B7 RS4 for coking up?

Isn't this the 4.0 tfsi engine? If so then I've not heard of any coking issues with it.

Yeap it's TFSI and "so far" there's been no coking issues reported as the pressurised air flow seems to blast deposits off. My 100k mile C6 TFSI had barely any carbon when we checked so I'm guessing the later generation C7/4G range will be the same.

Hi Ian,

Thanks for the reply and the info.

I am just about to do a carbon clean on my B7 RS4 in prep for selling.

Cheers

Andy
