This is maybe a superfluous question...

Assuming you agree to Audi dealer installing a brand new diff @ 14k (which is a preposterous amount of money).. of which I'm sure they would be delighted to undertake an instruction of that magnitude..

Is the part guaranteed and carries the same warranty as any new part, or are you on your own again with this scenario.. I mean, how does that work moving forward with anything, really ?

The way I would approach this is through the selling dealer...If all of these headaches are now being caused by Audi discovering that the car has been mapped and are denying the warranty claim based on this I would simply go back to the selling dealer and say to them you misrepresented the sale of this car as it was sold as an unmapped/standard car and now you have suddenly found out that it is mapped...See what they say and ultimately be prepared to go to the retail ombudsman small claims court....They need to prove to you that they sold you a car that was not mapped, if they cant then you win. Simple as that.

Small claim covers up to 5k, if the selling dealer drags feet you’ll be instructing a lawyer.

Small Claims, or better known as ''Court Claim' from memory is any value, just a higher fee. However you will need to be claiming for a cost, so would need to get the work done first. As said, not a guarantee it will be successful.

So this has been resolved now I'm pleased to say. I had been working with the original selling independent dealer throughout, who were always engaged with the issue. We ended up agreeing on what I regard as a good price for the car based on it being in good working order and the dealer came and collected it from Audi. They will be replacing the diff themselves with a second hand one.

I have to say I'm very happy with the service from the original selling dealer here, I can't imagine many would take ownership of this issue in the way they have.

Thanks to all on here for your support and advice with this. Already missing the RS6, will be keeping an eye on C8 prices over the next year or so.

Cheers
Andy

Yes, and for a good price, better than I would have got trading the car in full working order.
