I'm experiencing a couple of issues with my brakes that doesn't appear to be the brake judder problem I read about.

• I get a grinding noise with moderate to hard braking (only). This seems to be from the drivers side front only.

• Gently slowing down from >110kmh the brakes suddenly "grabbed" as if I had quickly stomped on the pedal. This happened 2-3 times, when driving in the wet and was unsettling to say the least

The car is new (<2000kms) for me - a MY17 purchased from Audi under their Audi Approved Plus scheme, so has another two years of warranty remaining. On that basis I wouldn't expect the car to be sold in a state where the brakes shouldn't be so worn that they would be grinding on this disk.

I have got it booked in to look at, but wondering if there are any other ideas on these issues?

Your second issue, the brakes grabbing is something they do in excessive wet conditions.

Mine has done it a few times, normally after an extended period on a wet motorway and then coming off at a slower slip road.

The grabbing is normal, when its wet the brakes apply themselves gently to keep the discs dry, when braking the speed and brake pressure is monitored to ensure the car is slowing as planned, if not then an emergency braking will take over to slow the car down to the desired braking and speed, it can be a bit scary at first but nothing to worry about. They seem sensitive to brake pad quality and the brakes need using hard every so often to keep them clear of dust etc, give them a few good stomps on the brakes to see if it goes away. You may also have a small stone stuck in there somewhere, i get this quite bad if the roads have been freshly gritted
