High Pressure Fuel Pumps

Post by oilydan » Wed Jun 15, 2022 1:21 pm

With a little petrol whiff in the oil I think its time for a HPFP change. I have questions for those in the know...

I assume the OEM part is the Hitachi unit, and will do the job just fine.

What's with the Autotech upgrade kit - will this piston/plunger fix a leaking OEM unit? or would I need a full new pump, and then fit the Autotech part to that?

I think some of the high end tuners (MRC Etc) recommend the Loba unit, which is 3 times the price of the OEM, but obviously delivers the fuel required to run big BHP.

I'd rather go OEM at 600 for the pair than 1800 for something that is a 'nice to have', is that what they are, or are the Loba pumps a 'must have'?

for a stock car you don't need anything than the OEM
If you want to run ethanol you'll need the either the loba or the autotech pistons especially since you are remapped

What does bevo have to say ?

As for the pistons It depends where the pumps are leaking ...
