Just spoke to Audi West London and Audi UK.

I am none the wiser and have essentially been told that there is no recall; the service centre said Audi UK will know more and Audi UK have said the service centre will know more - neither appear to know anything.

I have not received any recall letter and with a 62k miles car I am grateful for my Audi extended warranty.

Let's see if things change early July.

Mine was booked in for Friday and has just been cancelled. The agent said the replacement part needed further engineering and wasnt available, so need to wait for an 'improved' version to be produced.
That could of course be total rubbish, and they just cant get the part. Bit frustrating knowing there is a potentially damaging fault with your car but not getting it resolved.

Reading these replies just confirms the utter bullsh#t Audi give customers. Surely if it’s a recall on a part it’s a simple explanation. My understanding is the strainer is made of plastic which breaks down causing the bits to block oil flow to the turbos. New strainer made of metal and stronger later models already have this improved part.
Typical Audi boll##ks 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️ Send out a recall then tell customers the part is on back order😠😠

You’d think they could at least manage to write to everyone, explain what is going on and say they would cover any turbos that blow up between now and them getting their act together

I think Audi are being tight lipped exactly because they don’t want to get any closer to the liabilities they’re facing - whether the expense of the recall or the expense of failed engine / turbo claims.

Unless the recall is resurrected when the parts return into stock, I guess they’re looking to lie low and stay silent when any issues arise - knowing that a percentage of owners will accept the failure as ‘one of those things’ and only the informed will make reference to the recall and pursue a claim / goodwill etc. should there be a failure.

Well it turns out it’s not the strainer that’s on back order it’s actually the rubber seals on the breather unit. Audi won’t authorise the replacement of the unit just the small plastic strainer and the seals.
Once the breather is removed to change the strainer to a metal mesh the seals need to be replaced.
If you want to pay for it Audi will supply new unit plus the strainer.
As you will see from the pics it’s an all day job for a standard car but longer if you have Adaptive cruise night vision as all need to be recalibrated

I tried to book in with Audi Exeter... they told me no recall is live. I pushed them giving them the code etc to which the service guy come back and said he could see that there was a recall but now there isn't...

He mentioned something about it going back live in July time around the 4th... so I shall be phoning up on the 4th to see what the score is.

The recall is still present on the DVLA website. I guess Audi has temporarily suspended it due to lack of parts.

I think that’s my car! It went in with a misfire and only got the recall work because I had an issue with the crank breather. The master tech working on it refused to do the crank breather an not the recall work…. He pushed to do it all at the same time as if split into two jobs it’s number off job both times….

Well mines running much smoother now I’ve had my misfire issue sorted and bonus the recall got done. As you can see the gause on mine was split.. if it had broken down it would have mashed the turbos. Hope everyone gets a resolution on theirs… seems like Audi can’t hold out much longer

FYI - I received a call from Audi Sheffield today confirming that due to a shortage of the necessary parts, the recall has been postponed until a (yet to be determined) future date. They hope to provide more information during July.

Will Audi honour the recall on modified cars?

If you purchase the crank breather £185 it comes with the new seals which are the parts Audi say are on back order🤷‍♂️ The actual oil strainer up grade which is the part that failed is available. I’ve just ordered mine coming Wednesday 😁 On a plus side if your car needs an oil service you’ll get it done for free under the recall as the oil and filter needs to be replaced to complete the recall

Hello, are you telling that they can change oil strainer by servicing car for an oil change? Thanks
