Michelin PS4s 285/30R21

Post by oilydan » Tue Apr 19, 2022 1:16 pm

I put PS4s on my Ftype-R after P Zeros and noticed a substantial improvement in grip.

Scroll forward to RS6 ownership and my Super Sports need changing.

I cannot find 285/30R21 PS4S anywhere. Do they even exist?

Do I need to get the inferior SuperSports, or can I take it up to 195/30R21 with small spacers (original PE wheels)

In soggy Scotland, daily driving, and Stage 2, if that makes a difference.

What are your thoughts?

I run 295 30R21 PS4S with 5mm spacers all round and they nicely fill the arches and no rubbing. Best option IMHO :boots: :beerchug: :boots:

And if 15mm all around will it rub?

I hope your not still looking but I've ordered a set of four PS4S 285/30/R21 from F1 Autocentre online, being fitted this Thursday. Worked out at £275 each once you claim back the £100 cashback from Michelin on their present offer.

Scrub my last, despite ordering yesterday, they've just emailed me to tell me that cant get them.

Back to the drawing board. There seems to be a shortage of tyres in the 285/30/R21 size at present. Car currently stuck off road as I cant get any decent tyres to solve a puncture.

Seems there is a national shortage in 285/30/21's, despite being able "buy" and order for fitting on the main tyre website's, they'll only actually tell you they haven't got them once you've placed your order. Only tyres I could get were Bridgestone potenza's which I didn't want. After ringing a host of other places the best I could get offered with the Continental SP5 but they wouldn't come untill the 10th June.

So if you are in need of tyres anytime soon, I'd start planning and ordering ahead now.

I too went looking for the Conti SP7, but according to continental they don't make them in 285/30/21 so for the foreseeable they won't be an option for the RS6.

I can get the Continental SC 5P. Does it matter having two different brands front and back?

Ideally I always have the same all round, but in a pinch I'd go different front to rear but never across the same axle.

I've managed to source a matching part worn pirelli p-zero at the same tread depth to replace my punctured tyre, so I can at least still use the car and have ordered a set of PS4S on back order (delivery time unknown but as soon as available) in order that I can have a set ready to go when they are in.

The offer of the conti's is much appreciated though.

Can I ask where you ordered the PS4S from? Demon Tweeks were showing 60 day lead time but there's no indication now.

Ordered with my local Merityre, but with no timescale on delivery, as soon as he see's some available he'll get them in and call me to tell me.
