Brake Judder

Post by HDPete » Sun Apr 10, 2022 4:18 pm

I had a new set of discs and pads which have done 2k miles before brake judder appeared. There are signs of pad deposits and the garage have had the discs skimmed, but the judder remains. Same problem with different wheels (in case of buckling) and all pistons seem to be moving properly.

We’re now scratching our heads a bit.

Any suggestions on what to try?

I had this problem and in my case you won’t believe what caused mine,so I get my car cleaned off someone in winter as I can’t be arsed in the cold, then in the spring I start cleaning it,all of a sudden the brakes started juddering really bad and this went on for ages, anyway i was at a point I didn’t have time to clean my car so I started getting it cleaned again off someone and with in a few weeks it was fine, after testing my theory by doing it on purpose it turned out it was my wheel cleaner and also me maybe over spraying on the disks

I always take mine out for a few miles after cleaning it to prevent any rust build up on the brakes, you also need to do some fairly hard braking every now and again to keep the brakes from juddering

I think it’s down to the hubs - they are made of cheese and go out of true really easily, so get them checked before you spend a fortune on new discs/pads - see my post on this last year…

I still have judder on the rear - have only changed the pads, what do the hubs on the rear cost and does anyone have a part number?
Thanks
