Sanity check needed

For those that have been following or can vaguely remember I purchased user 'Holt2498''s unicorn C7.5 back in October. Truly a unique motor due to it's pedigree and history (it was an Audi UK car until April 2021 and was a 'Static Demonstrator' with Audi Heritage meaning it sat in a showroom looking pretty but was never driven. It was serviced etc by Audi Fleet and did average of 150 miles a year). I was originally going to go for a PE but when this was dangled I couldn't let it go and snapped it up. Fast forward nearly 5 months and I've done a massive 700 miles in it . One of the car gurus I know told me 'you do realise that you are now captive to that mileage and keeping it low' and he's 100% correct. The USP is the condition and the mileage (plus the spec helps as well) but it lives under a car cover and occasionally gets used to go for the odd drive. Recently had a chat with Fontain and he basically said 'why dont you just sell it and buy a slightly higher mileage (but still low miles) one that you're not worried about and just drive it' which did ring a chord with me.
Whilst it's not a PE it will be (by a huge margin) the lowest mileage and immaculate C7 on the market and hence hold a big price premium.
It currently has just under 3,800 miles on the clock (it’s a Nov 2015 build).
Put her on a ramp for the MOT and took some pics underneath-It's like new, not a mark anywhere and some of the panels still have clean Stickers on them. Hatfield Audi for its last service said that outside of a brand new car it was the cleanest they'd ever seen.
Frankly the car should be part of some multi-car collection that sits in a nice hangar on a trickle charger and I find myself getting all OCD about putting miles on it. Have found myself looking at PE's and there are a few that fit the bill. I'd like to think that with above as new miles I'd actually drive it more. A guy I work with has a 2004 997 Carrera Porsche with 6000 miles total (yes really) and he's in a similar position-hardly drives it to keep the miles low and residuals up.
Thoughts? Have I lost the plot?

No, not lost the plot. I have had a similar experience, albeit with a far of lesser value.
I had a low mileage Mk1 TT quattro Sport, it was mint and I was afraid to drive it. In case it got damaged and not wanting to put miles on it. I sold it in the end as it just became an ornament.
I agree with your thinking, sell it and buy a PE and use it.

Have to say I'm a hostage to wanting to keep the miles down on mine, mainly to keep the residual value up. Mine had 63k miles when I bought it last May - but have only done 2000 miles since, and my hackles rise when asked to travel a distance!

At the same time, I might not be as well-paid as some others on here (so really don't want a mega-serious fault to occur), so the other reason for keeping the miles down, is to reduce overall wear and tear. I'm lucky in that I get to work from home most days, and a round trip to the office and back is only 20 miles, and overall fuel costs around £40 per month.

But this car is my dream car, and the most car I could attain based on wage and disposable income - so whilst my other half whines that I have a £45k car sitting in the garage doing nothing, my answer is that it's my "prize" for the hard work I do, and what I've achieved in my life (as we all get hit with set backs and have to restart at square one). It sits like a gleaming metal statue in the garage, and detailed every weekend. Also hate it getting wet and dirty!

So I'm in the camp that says treat it gently, keep the miles down, maintain high residual value, and then if the C8's eventually become affordable, you'll have a great deal on any p/ex. But it's your call to make mate - but you're not insane if you keep it!

I guess I am at the other end of the spectrum. Bought new in 2015, mine went straight onto the motorway for long commutes. It now has several body dings and an excellent collection of stone chips. I haven't washed it for about 2 years. It does regular tip runs and is filthy inside. But the flipside is I can jump in it in any weather to do any sort of journey or task and not fret about it. Mostly, those journeys are just plodding along in traffic or traipsing around town, but, when the traffic clears and the road gets twisty, I'm off and having fun - even if it's only for a few seconds before catching up the cars in front. I never find myself in a bog-standard, plodding-along car looking at an open road and wishing I had made the journey in my spotless, immaculate, low-mileage, always garaged RS6.
Of course, I think I have hammered the resale value, but I will be remembering the scorching drives long after I have forgotten just how much I lost on the ownership.

I'm with Wildbore on this one. Mine is a daily driver doing 20K miles per year - mainly long distance. Unlike Mr W I do keep mine clean (inside and out) and fully serviced (MRC) and can't fault the whole package. I am busy converting an old barn in Wales so it is regularly full to the brim with tools and building gear and still puts a smile on my face every mile

I recall one local builder remarking on my old (C5) beast "Must be the fastest builder's wagon in all Wales, Boyo!" - the only difference now is that it's even faster

Currently on 120K miles and good for a lot more I reckon. These Beasts are simply unmatched

Same here 150.000 km on my c7 2104 April model, and loving it, will sell when it will need big repairs or maybe it will die naturally

I am in the middle here, on the one hand I want to leave the car with a low a smileage as possible, but on the other I find myself allways driving it - as its soo much damn fun.
I use the Volvo D4 CC in the winters, since me and the wife tend to wear metal dubbed shoes in the winters and lots of skiing trips = scratches, scrapes, salt, food, lots of cold starts (-10-20C) etc so I tend to put away the Audi in the Winter, sounds crazy right? I know a Quattro should be used in the Winter, but I can't bear getting it scratched and filthy - it needs to be in perfect condition in my eyes. This doesnt mean I dont use it whenever I can, and am not afreaid to put miles on it at 45000km, I feel I have a big buffer as opposed to losing value on the resale.

Great comments and I think the issue is the mileage on mine is (for the age) TOO low. Sounds odd but when the nearest one with the closest miles for sale is just over 10k (still massively low miles) on a 2016/2017 plate and with mine the first 5.5 years of its life it did just over 900 miles.
Will post some photos of the underside just to show how clean it is

My C6 only has 46k on it and i wont use it much…but i know for sure that thats just wrong. I should sell it, buy a higher mileage one, use it…and i bet id never regret doing it.

I’ve really missed my big 6 but I’m back and collecting my performance addition on Thursday. It’s been three years With several in between An RS3 RS4 two R8’s and an SQ5 but I’m finally back and can’t wait

Interesting that you’re back…..the ‘RS6 Tractor Beam’ (to give it a name) is strong!
Two R8’s….I’ve certainly considered them but the newer 2015 onwards models are still big money (£80-90k +). How did you find them and which ones did you have?
