Rattling Milltek

Post by MountainMutant » Sun Aug 29, 2021 5:01 pm

I’m attaching a couple of vids of my non res cat back Milltek.
It has a horrid rattle that I want to know if normal or not. I can’t stand the noise and am looking at another brand but am not 100% it is the exhaust or an engine noise coming through the exhaust
I don’t want to spend on another system and have the same problem!

I’ve read about wastegate rattles etc. Has anyone experienced this and got to the bottom of it?
The car has the valve delete and can’t see the flaps moving when I shine a torch up the pipe

Hello,

I have the same system and can tell you it doesn’t sound like that.

Not sure what it is but I recommend booking in with an exhaust specialist to take a look as these systems are modular, meaning you may only need to replace part of the system rather than the whole thing.

Thanks. I thought as much.
So anyone any idea what the noise could be?
Would the wastegates flutter at such low revs?

I've got a milltek non res cat back and mine sounds exactly the same, it's got to be either something loose in the back box or the valves, there's nothing else apart from straight pipe.

I sent the vids to Milltek who said they couldn’t hear anything and sounded normal for the non res system.

So some people get a rattle and others not!

I’ll upload a couple of vids of mine when I have a moment. Mine hasn’t got any rattle.

Mine used to do it. I'd spray some wd40 into the tailpipes and it would stop for about a month.

Hi, yes just got really busy with work during covid and found I didn't have much spare time.
