Audi Connect subscription

Post by sasha320 » Mon May 10, 2021 4:59 am

Just had my annual Audi Connect licence reminder and as in previous years I rang up customer services to get the licence renewed for another year at no cost.

Unfortunately Audi have changed their policy and are now charging for the subscription (via the MyAudi app).

I use Connect for the traffic flow information and the ability to send a destination from Google Maps to my car.

I was open minded about being charged and got given a price of £11.50, which I thought was quite good value until I realised this was the MONTHLY cost.

Am I alone in thinking £11.50 is extortionate for the Connect service (on a C7)?

Let’s say the subscription at £11.50 included keeping the sat nav maps up to date as well as the online services then I suspect I’d find a case for me to subscribe at that price.

Losing Connect isn’t the end of the world - mainly because I always hook up my mobile phone to the windscreen for speed camera warnings; so now I’ll be using Waze for both traffic flow and speed cameras.

Maybe I’ll get the Chinese dude to put in Carplay so I can get Waze on the central screen.

Dunno, feels petty of Audi to charge £11/month for this service. What do others think?

Never looked back since I had our Chinese friend do Carplay. There appear to now be some British places offering the same service.

Totally agree that the £11.50 would be reasonable if it also included up-to-date mapping, but £11.50 per month for the traffic data, the ability to search online destinations and send destinations to the car from the desktop is just not worth it, especially as I am now only doing about 1500 miles per year at the moment.

All the other features (weather reports, news, etc.) is just a load of pointless fluff.
