Another New PE Owner

Post by eng33 » Fri Apr 23, 2021 3:32 pm

Hi all

Long time lurker, life long VAG owner, this week picked up my long time dream car... 2017 RS6 PE

Came from a 2016 Allroad Sport 272, so not a huge change in overall vehicle layout, but oooooohhhh the performance!! Haven’t stopped grinning yet!

Do have a few questions for you guys if I may....

Gap insurance, never had it (although have had many agreed value insurance policies on classic car policies in the past), so would appreciate thoughts / experiences / recommendations for these cars.

User manual wallet seemed a bit thin, only has MMI manual and a generic A6 manual, didn’t they come with an RS6 specific manual? Most functions do seem to be covered by the generic one though. Also, don’t seem to have any info on the Bose system, again was this a separate manual?

Many thanks.
Andy

The MMI manual is common to the whole range, but my 2015 (C7.5) car came with an RS6 owner's manual, not a generic A6 manual. You can easily check if the manual covers your car. The RS6 has full TPMS (not simply low pressure warning) and the car has RS-specific screens and functions in the driver information panel. Both of these should be fully documented in the correct manual for your car.

I'd deffo get GAP - there are loads of third party providers that arent that expensive that get you back to full purchase invoice. I made the mistake of not getting it quickly enough and my Range Rover got stolen from outside my house only 13 days after I bought it. Queue humungous battle with the insurers. I got them to pay out the purchase price as I used the recent purchase invoice as evidence but they still fought it. Did the GAP on the RS6 while still sat in the dealer as a result!!

Nice, is that from Norwich Audi?

I would look into Gap, I always tend to buy it as it is not a huge amount of money. I have never had to use it fortunately.

Thanks for the replies guys.

May I ask what company you use for GAP insurance and what duration you go for?

Thanks.

I used ALA in the past. 3 year term back to invoice. You maybe able to do 4 year. Do a search, normally can find a discount code somewhere.

+1 for ALA Gap. As previous post, done some digging and found 15% off.

I see your RS6 is up for sale at Yeovil Audi.
Did you trade it in and what do you have now?

Ha ha and 10k more miles, I ‘traded’ it with them for a ‘21 Vorsprung Allroad (actually was a straight swap). At the time needed brake discs all round, so hope they got done.

Took delivery of my new Vorsprung S6 estate about 5 weeks ago, should have been around 10 months delivery, came in 3!
