Boot bike carrier

Post by crashley » Sun Mar 14, 2021 8:25 pm

I’m not having much luck with the search function; has anyone had a boot mounted bike carrier that works with the spoiler and without the requirement for having a tow bar?

Cheers
Ash

Have you tried a Saris bones? I had one previously and think it should work on RS6.
I used to put motorbike webbing between the brackets, the straps and the car as I didn’t trust the standard protection.

I have a Saris Bones but I wouldn't put it on the RS6 for fear of ripping the spoiler off. Have you considered a roof mounted bike rack like Thule?

I used Thule roof bars on a previous BMW - very good and went to South of France with them at a decent clip.
If I was considering one now, it would depend on the number and type of bikes - throwing a couple of road bikes up there is easy enough, but full suss MTBs would be trickier.
Because of all the challenges you are finding, I picked a C7 with a tow bar and use an Atera L3 with extender. Means air only suspension but it was a compromise I was willing to make.Image

+1 for the roof bars.

I got the Thule ones that slide out, so you don't have to lean against the car to load them on... work a treat!

I just dont like those ones that hang off the back. I always think they look like they are going to fall off and there is the danger of having tyres near a hot exhaust??!!

Had 3 MTBs and 1 Road on mine 600miles to France, no trouble at all...
