Keep damaged OEM alloys for resale??
Keep damaged OEM alloys for resale??
Hi everyone.
After a bit of advise please, I’ve recently got a 2015 C7 RS6 which had 4 buckled alloys(21 inch 5 spoke)and now one is cracked.
As the roads seem to be shocking everywhere I’ve ordered some vossens as they have a lifetime structural warrantee.
Shame as I like the originals.
Is it worth keeping the damaged alloys to fix them for re-sale, or not bother?
Cheers

Re: Keep damaged OEM alloys for resale??
I think OEM wheels help sell to the wider public. Only enthusiast will see the value in a quality wheelset like Vossen.
Out of interest what model and colour have you gone for? HF-5 are on my wish list.

Re: Keep damaged OEM alloys for resale??
Thanks for the reply. I’ll keep them in case, just can’t see why someone would want potentially faulty alloys. It’s quite a common problem I think. I’ve gone for the HF2 in satin black as the car is Daytona grey, to be honest most of the designs look pretty smart so just had to go with one and not change my mind lol. Wasn’t an expense I wanted but is the sensible option in the long run.
Re: Keep damaged OEM alloys for resale??
You can usually get them straightened unless they are too far gone. Normally they buckle on the inner edge where there's no structural support.

Re: Keep damaged OEM alloys for resale??
Once there off I’ll take them to see how bad the damage is and if they can be repaired. I’ve been advised not to drive as the crack is quite significant, fingers crossed they aren’t beyond repair. When driving you wouldn’t really notice there was a problem. Thanks for the advice.
Re: Keep damaged OEM alloys for resale??
I have the same issue with my C7 PE on 5 spoke 21s - the issue is well documented else where in RS246. I have a summer and a winter set and each swap they need attention but have always been safely repairable.LH89 wrote:Hi everyone.

I quite like the OEM look otherwise I would have swapped them by now. And still might.
I also agree with crapbag that the OEMs will help your car sell if required.
Audi do not acknowledge the issue IMO.

Re: Keep damaged OEM alloys for resale??
I agree Holmsfree it’s not a good look on Audi, they need to take more responsibility. Apparently it’s happening to a lot of new Mercs and BMW’s. They are either cutting costs or maybe going more for looks over practicality. Thanks for the reply, I’ll keep them and get them repaired.
Re: Keep damaged OEM alloys for resale??
Why to keep them? Sell them, I sold mine
Re: Keep damaged OEM alloys for resale??
Tadass 910, I did consider this but after getting them repaired I don’t think they’ll make any money. Plus there seems to be a lot on the market. I was going to keep them and potentially sell the Vossens depending on what I buy in a few years time. How much did you sell them for?

I bought my 2nd set for £700.
