Really torn on 20's

Post by TaylorRS6 » Sun Mar 07, 2021 11:41 pm

Hello, recently jumped out of my b8 rs4 and into a c7 Rs6. The rs6 is currently on 20's and I'm a massive fan of how well it rides.

The looks I'm not so sold on.. I think prefer the gloss black 21s non pe. I can't seem to find any pictures of sepang blue rs6's with 20s in anthracite or black wheels..

My question is the ride difference between the two? The 20s are on a 35 profile tyre but the 21s on a 30 profile..

Any input would be appreciated...

SO many cars about with 20's now, you really need to go 21 to stand out

My sepang has 21s (titanium) and my family who came from a Full Fat Range Rover (so you can imagine how soft the ride was in that) are absolutely fine with the ride in the RS6. My wife even accidentally drove it in dynamic and didn't complain. 🤷‍♂️

I have both the 20's and the 21's
The 20's have my winter tyres on them and I love the ride and the look. Very comfortable "family" set up.
The 21's had (until a month ago) the factory fit Dunlops. In my opinion they are a really poor tyre. The car feels really heavy (even in comfort) and grip is marginal at best (although my most recent memory has been when the tread was coming to an end). I've also found the ride a bit crashy at times even though I'm on Air, not DRC.
I've now got a brand new set of Michelin PS4S on the 21's and I can't wait to see how they compare when I swap back to the 21's.

To be honest I think if I had a mgaic wand and was forced to run just one set of wheels then I would want the design and build quality of the 20's, but as a 21" wheel.
I love the deep dish appearance and the non PE 21's are just too bendy (I've had a couple of pot hole related bends to the 21's).

My 20's are currently still the orginal silver/cut surface, but this summer I am going to give them a refurb.
My car is Daytona grey and I'm keen to get some suggestions on what colour to get the 20's. I'm thinking following the same colour scheme as my 21's, which is titanium and cut surface, but i wonder if that is just too subtle.... I don't think black and cut surface woyuld suit the DG car..... Thoughts?

I’ve got 20’s on mine in satin black (formally Mikefish’s wheels) and I love them! I got the car on 21’s with standard silver finish. And against my DG paint they just made the car look a bit too refined. Ride wise I felt the 21’s to feel a bit cumbersome. And gave a crashy edge to the ride on DRC even in comfort.

Looks wise on the 20’s the concave is sublime and really enhances the arch bulge. And the satin look against the DG works so so well. And I’m not a fan of black wheels! Gloss black always makes the tyres (unless tyredressing has JUST been applied) look dull and faded. And Matt black just looks like an unfinished wheel. The satin defo hits the spot.

All that coupled with the lack of fear that the next pothole is going to leave you stranded is enough to make it (in my eyes) the OE wheel of choice!

I'd keep the 20's for Winters and then get a set of 21" PE wheels / aftermarket for summer. The 20's are hard to find. I wanted a set for mine but ended up with a second set of PE wheels.

I think the 20's are the best looking of all the RS6 wheels so that coupled with durability would seem to make them the OEM wheel of choice...
