Looking to get into an RS6 this year. Seen a nice grey one with 30k miles. Initially wanted an RS6 performance but not sure it’s worth the extra money.
I understand some come with steel susp and others air susp. What’s the pros and cons of both and which is more reliable?
Also I’ll be going down the stage 2 route with an uprated exh and mapping. Who’s the preferred tuner?
How are 6’s for reliability and anything I should be looking out for in particular?
2014- RS6
Re: 2014- RS6
The PE is worth the extra money IMO - had both - though your thread title 2014 - think you might struggle with budget to get into a PE
If you can stretch to a 2015 facelift, then I would - as matrix lights, double glazing on front windows, other minor changes too.
DRC has failed on a number of older cars, mixed opinions as to both. If DRC fails out of warranty, it's £1500/corner. Mine went. PE had std air, I couldn't tell difference tbh
MRC for tuning - period
Found both mine to be bullet proof other than the DRC failing on my 2015 car.
Look for a FASH when buying. Anything you buy thats mapped already and advertised as being in warranty, ignore as it will throw up a TD1 code.
Tyres last. depending on how you drive it 18-20k miles
Front discs and pads, around 25kmiles - circa £1200 per front set and £800 rears.
Fuel consumption between 18 and 24 day to day. Managed 34mpg on a run in my PE.
One of the best all round day to day cars you will find.
Enjoy and Happy New Year!!!

Re: 2014- RS6
For me personally pre or facelift cars has no difference, only some minimum changes in exterior and interior, same power same engine, talking about performance version it has a little more power but also same engine, just marketing. I own 2014 rs6, I bought it used in 2016 summer with 51.000km on a clock, with stock engine so far no big problems, one time I got lambda sensor failed and tpms sensor one failed, total spent 1000 eur. So far everything else ok, I am at 130.000km
Most important that you should buy used car from Audi dealer, I bought at Audi dealer in Germany with Audi approved program with 101 point check, I always change oil after 15.000km at official Audi dealers, doing maintenance as usually and love car. Don’t know how long I will own it but so far loving it with Miltek none resonated exhaust) (been with Miltek from 2016 autumn, been problems with one exhaust flap, but wd40 solves issues)
