Know there's other threads on here about this but having just experienced just how sensitive these cars are to the tracking being out I now absolutely get it.
Noticed on recent trip that the steering wheel was suddenly off centre when the car was going straight. Car wasn't pulling in any particular direction but the steering felt lumpy and leaden and it was tramlining more than normal.
Took it in to have it tracked expecting to be told that they had to realign all the wheels - but they came back saying that the front left was only slightly toe out and the rest were perfect.
Lo and behold - straight steering wheel and the car feels up on its toes again. Can only assume my wife had thumped a kerb or something but surprised me how little it took.
Tracking sensitivity
Re: Tracking sensitivity
I always know when mine needs doing because the steering wheel feels very heavy, with major tramlining and throwing you into a hedge under hard acceleration. It doesn’t take much to knock it out of alignment.
