Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum but would appreciate some advice. I have Audi stock discs and pads (non ceramic) fitted and the other day went for a bit of a tear around. Plain and simple, went from 100mph+ down to 0 twice within 10 minutes, brake to the floor. When I parked up in supermarket car park, you could hear the clanking and pinging as they'd clearly overheated. Point is, the brakes are nowhere near as good as before. Travel distance has increased but I still have a decent bit of meat of the pads. Just weird that 2 hard brakes like that seem to have made such as impact. Does this sound familiar?

Probably boiled the fluid. When was it last changed?

Are they original pads or have they been replaced with some cheaper alternative?

Couldn't tell you at all, changed at Audi Chelmsford.

Would have been changed last service, July last year. I was reading up about that, do you think boiling the fluid is a possibility? It's not that a took it around Nurburgring or anything. Would 2 hard 100-0mph braking actions be enough to boil it do you think?

Shouldn't do as long as it's the correct DOT rating. It's just how you described your brake "feel" now that suggested the fluid had boiled and left gas bubbles in the system, hence giving a spongy, less effective brake feel. Needs checking out asap really, hope you get sorted.

Thanks for the advice. Definitely not the same but it's not like the brakes are bad, so when you say spongey, yes but not loads. Travel distance on the pedal definitely increased, probably not a lot but am guessing 10-20mm extra, so enough that you will definitely feel the difference when your used to the normal feel of the pedal.

I thought the C7 adjusted the pedal so you should never have too much travel on the pedal?

No idea Mike tbh. But there is a definite difference.
