Brake pad recommendations

Had some APEC brake pads fitted by an independent specialist but i am not happy with their performance or noise! Any recommendations from any body else - other than genuine AUDI?
I used Ferodo DS2500 with braided brake lines and Motul RBF600. No wear indicators, and not as good as OEM when cold (not much difference though) but once warmed up they were better than OEM.
