Do I buy the C7 or C8?

HI guys...so this may a bit of a tough one

So I've currently got a 2012 F10 m5 that is in perfect condition and low miles. If I sell this now and with what ive already saved, I could potentially end up with a budget of around 60k that I know will get me a fairly decent C7

Question is, do I hold off another year or so, save some more money and go for a second hand C8 when prices drop?? I reckon in a year or so I should be able to pick up a decent one for around 80K

What do you think? finance options are being considering but to be honest, ive never bought a car on finance and would rather stick to being a cash buyer unless someone can convince me otherwise

Right now I think you’d be barking to do anything. The whole market is dead. I’d be surprised if you get any offer on the M5.

Only you can determine which is better C7 or C8, when possible to do so go drive them.

Prices are going to plummet on used C7 and I expect dealers of all sorted to be discounting heavily later in the year to get anything moving.

I think for a moment it’s a very good moment to get a good offer if you have moneys to find an f10 m5 used one, c8 is a weak in all aspects, if I were you now would look for a second hand m5 best at a dealer at mobile.de You can see here how c8 lost in all aspects https://youtu.be/cYrVTpVeeDs

I just signed up for this forum and was actually considering the same question decided against the C8 for now and will go for c7 purely on price for now ; been looking for a while and cars don’t seem to be shifting much at all. With everything going on decided to wait a while and see what comes in next few months as my guess is dealers will want to shift stock.
Ps nice nogaro blue one on approved Audi stock but no dynamic pack.

Personally if I was in the market for a new car I'd be throwing 60k at an M5 Competition.

Personally I would follow Mikes suggestion or hang fire.
I have taken my C7 off sale as interest died off other than the usual time wasters asking if I'd take a 2008 S3 in p/ex etc
C8's I have no doubt, (given the initial £11k discounts from drive the deal), will be able to be had with significant lumps of money off them in 12months time.
C7s followed the same boat. Mine listed to £93k and I bought it at 2months old with 110miles on the clock for £76500

Having had 2 RS6's one with dynamic and one without. I cannot tell the difference as an FYI. :)

There is also the C8 Performance edition which will make an appearance in the next 18 mths (just my opinion), which will probably follow the route of the Porker turbo SE-Hybrid with 680bhp+

Or better wait for used 2018 Mercedes-AMG gt 63 s when prices will go down.

P.s I still don’t understand how Audi and bmw don’t know how to proper make stock exhaust, look at amg stock sounds like beast, no need even change to aftermarket exhaust

Do you think that Miltek sounds somewhere near amg stock?

Never having had an AMG, but heard a few. Personally, and it's only my opinion and slightly biased :) - that the Millie Non Res is significantly above AMG stock, in that little children and animals are scared when it's on throttle going past them.... A Non std exhaust on an AMG.....the 6.3 version, not the latest engine.....now that would be interesting to hear. The non std G63's sound epic.

My previous 6 on cold start with Millie

Yes I'm bored!! :)

I think none resonated Miltek sounds too raspy and amg more bossy) but anyway my next car can be either m5 competition or Mercedes amg gt63 s. As we know that amg has nice exhaust sound already from a factory but m5 competition is faster)

I'd agree with you on the raspy - its a lot more "laddish / Maccy D's boys on Steriods" rather than the AMG

Love everything about the M5 other than it looks a little too anonymous; I'm going to do one more fossil fuel car after my RS then move onto electric I think

Had an M6 back in 2006 - was quicker from 100 to 150 than it was 50 to 100. Epic V10, but was hideous on fuel. First name terms with petrol pump attendant.

Like the GT63S - have seen a couple, rare motors

so I've been considering a few more options and don't hate me but none are audi.......

for the price of what will be the new rs6 in a year from now

Iam thinking of the following which should be the same cost as a 1 year old C8 rs6

Lotus Exige 410 (2-3 year old)
Range rover ( 5 year old)

Thoughts??

Wouldn't touch a Range Rover!! Bought a new RRS in 2015- spent more time in the dealership than it did on the road!! Had a diesel leak (a tiny one) - but was told "it was in tolerance sir" - threw the car back a them and said sort it.
Electrics had a mind of their own
New discs and pads at 1200miles as they squealed so badly
HUD was intermittent
Volume control on Radio Sometimes worked.

Other than that - great car LOL

Can't comment on an Exige, but at 6'2 and 17.5stone I'd probably not be able to get in and out...

I hear you about the Range Rover. Ive heard so many horror stories but I do like the look of those cars. Saying that, I could also consider an older style AMg e63 but not sure I would be able to find a low mileage Rs6 for around 30k

The exige will be purely a toy for me...IM not the smallest guy either but I think I could just about fit..Ultimately the wife will murder me if i buy a motorbike so exile is the next best thing i think
