Inspection & Oil Change Service

Post by ShaneyB » Fri Mar 06, 2020 6:06 pm

Blimey.
I have an Inspection Due notice pop up and my next oil service in 5000 miles. Would you guys recommend using a good indy over a stealer? I always have in previous Audi's but wanted your thoughts on the PE.

Inspection & Oil Change Service @ Audi Watford - £545.00

Inspection & Oil Change Service @ Fontain Audi - £322.66

Cheers
Shane

Hi Shane,

My view (and this is what I am going to do with my 2014 30K mile car in April) is stick with main dealer. Flex service, so wont need doing for another 2 yrs.
I have Audi extended warranty and just think if I ever need to use this, it will go in my favour if it has been serviced at the same dealer.
I also will also need new discs and pads in April and when looking at the saving, again I am going to get them done at the same time.
I also really trust and like my local dealer...

Now if my car had 60K + miles on it and no warranty then I would go indy.

Hope this helps?!

Cheers,
Lig.

 What Lig said...however, supply your own oil (9 Litres Eurocarparts/Opie) and the dealer price including your oil cost won’t be far away from the Indie. My dealer is great, no quibble using the exact same oil that I supply and I know my extended warranty and their goodwill remains intact. (Odometer~19,500 miles, annual servicing, 5 oil services and counting)

You do oil change regularly each 15.000km ? My car has 115.000km and from day one I always do everything at Audi dealer, later if you wish selling your car it will be big advantage

Honestly, use Fontain. They know their stuff with these cars so I personally wouldn't hesitate.

I wanted to keep the services with the main dealer after 3 years but the pricing and lack of being able to supply my own oil I decided to go the indy route (CLP in Sheffield). Did not regret it and the knowledge on the cars was better than main dealer.

But keep in mind that if you decide sell your car maybe buyer will not trust any other maintenance than Audi official dealer. After every inspection they put stamp in your book also it’s added into a Audi online system

I've always used an Audi indipendant on all of our past Audi's RS6(C5), RS3(8p), RS3(8v) S3(8L) S3(8p) & our current Audi's RS7 PE, RS3(8p)
Never had any problems with the resale / trade in's or any Audi warranty claims.
If you are going to use an indipendant make sure they are setup with Audi ErWin system so that they can log the service on to the electronic service book.

My wife had her A5 Cab recalled due to the amount of oil she was burning in the 2.0 TFSI engine. When they asked about it not having FASH they were making noises like they wouldn't cover the costs. When we provided all of the Fontain history they were fine with it and basically rebuilt the engine.

I think it will be fine and I have a while to mull it over.

Hey all
My RS6 just said it needs and oil change. It’s 4K and 18months. Phoned the stealer and they say it’s needed due to the time of the last change. They quoted £540 for oil change and inspection, don’t think they included any extras such air filters! I told them i would take my business elsewhere. I’ll do it myself, I normally change myself between official intervals anyway at 5k miles ish. Can anyone beat £540 for basic oil change quote?
