Morning all,
Under heavy acceleration do you guys struggle to keep the car in a straight line? It pulls left, right and very reminiscent of my old Uno Turbo back in the day.
Cheers

Not in dry. In the wet maybe, depends on tyres and how cold the tyres are. Nearly 900NM is not easy to put down in the wet.

Yeah in the cold and damp on summer tyres I can get my C6 into a nice wiggle up through first and into second.
It's running 715bhp and 720ft/lb of torque so as Mike says not easy to keep the wheels gripping in the cold and wet.
In the dry it's fine and it's much better in the cold and wet with the winter tyres on.

I'm actually wondering if when I had the wheels refurbed they put them back on the wrong side? Problem is I can't see anything directional on the tyre wall AND there is 1 x Dunlop Sportmax on one side and 1 x Michelin Pilot Super Sport on the other. I had similar issues on an old car running odd tyres.
Thoughts?

So your mixing tyres and asking why your getting torque steer

..
Preferably you should be running same tyres all around, then geo / wheel alignment that should see some of your issues lessen somewhat, you could also check your Wheels have been balanced

No, they were on the car when I bought it 6 weeks ago and are all pretty much new so will live with it for now.. Historically I run Michelins or Conti's and will do so again when I need to replace them.
Anyone know if these tyres do have a rotation direction?
Cheers

Hmm if not mistaken the dunlops are 1 direction only and has an arrow on them on the side, not sure about the michelins.

There are quite a few old threads on the issue on here, and the general consensus, backed by an Audi Master Tech who I trust, is that the chassis is very sensitive to correct geometry.
This has certainly been my experience.
You need to get it to somewhere that has a good Hunter alignment rig, and then befriend the technician so that he puts in the time to get it spot on. My local Kwikfit has one, and they also offer a deal where you pay one fee ( £110?? ) and it gets you a check every 3 months for 2 years - that's what I did.
Been back three times so far and each time at least one of the measurements needed a tweak to get it back to spot on perfect, and each time the change was discernible under full power.
Hope that helps
Dave

Thanks Dave,
i will get it booked in once I change the tyres as I see no point whilst they're not matching. I think that is a big part of it.
I'll check my local Kwikfit and see if they have one but I remember having my RS4 done on a Hunter by a place in Chesham.
Thanks mate.

None of the tyres I ever had on the RS6 were directional and I had factory pirellis, factory Dunlops and non factory Michelin Pilot super sports. But they all did have an inside and outside edge normally denoted by the words inside written on one side

Dunlop and Michelin will defo offer different levels of grip so I'd expect some sort of unusual handling effect.
