Question about front rings

Post by Asian Panda » Tue Nov 12, 2019 10:05 am

I have a question about the front rings.

I've noticed that the rings seems to attached to another mount which in turn mounts to the grille like in the first pic.

I would like the flush look like the latter pic so does anyone know if this mount can be easily taken off???

Hi AP,

Yeah, I have just had a look at mine and you are right there is another mount, but from looking at it, if this was removed you would need larger rings, and the angle would be wrong as they would in effect be pointing upwards. I could be wrong, but I think that both images have that second mount and its just the angle of the photo and the black rings that make the second image look like the second mount has been removed.

I could be wrong tho'...

Cheers,
Lig.

Lig,

I am not entirely sure bud about if you'd need bigger rings, sounds so wrong 🤨, but I've definitely seen cars with the more flush look rather than the rings poking out like a huge nose when the plate is off.

But if you look closely at the second pic you can see that the rings are not flush with the mount but in fact smaller. You might be right and it is just the camera angle.

Will need to do more research.

So Lig,

I managed to find a few things out about this... Yes that middle part can be removed but once off in behind you can see that as well as a bracket for the badge it's also a cover. So getting that flush look could possibly result in some mods to the grill.
Second trying to get it back on is a nightmare as the part clips to a very loose mount I behind the grill itself.

In other words; don't take it off unless you have the bumper off.

Ah I see, so it does look like you have to cut the grill to get that flush look and even then I dont know how you would attach the rings to cover the rough cuts???

I reckon it was just the image that made them look flush as I don't know why anyone would go to these lengths??????

Best left well alone me thinks?!

I'm almost sure it is possible to get it flush look but I think you're going to need an aftermarket grill for it.

But as you say, best left well alone!

And on a different note which probably best for a new topic... Just had the milltek active suspension control module fitted today. Mate is pretty awesome!!!
I get to control the OEM air suspension from an app on my phone raising it up to 30mm higher and 55mm lower over the standard and at a fraction of the cost of a full aftermarket air suspension setup.
