What is the easiest way to tell if your car has been re-mapped...

Post by Lig » Sun Nov 10, 2019 5:00 pm

Hi all,

Just as the title.... what would be the easiest (maybe cheapest) way to tell if a car has had a remap?

Is there anyway of looking on the ECU for this? OR would it have to have a rolling road test??

Cheers,
Lig.

There’ll be other ways I’m sure like a read of the ECU but for £60 - £100 a dyno test might be a good option

Easiest way to read ecu, but dyno also a choice

Thanks both....

So Tadass910 how would I tell from reading the ECU and how do you do this? Would that 'Carista' be able to tell me somehow??

I dont want to know what has been done i.e power, but just if anything has been 'touched' at all...

Cheers,
Lig.

Best way to visit ecu remap dealer, I don’t think that Carista can see if your ecu was remaped, also you can try see how car goes from 0-100 and compare to stock car

plug in VCDS (or similar) and see what boost it produces
BMW 540i
2018 GTR
F90 M5
X3MC
RS3 Saloon
RS7 FL best car I've owned. No faith in turbo oil screen (turbos failing) or sticking oil scraper ring causing missfires.
F10 M5 LCI still no rear grip lol
S7 black Edition Too big and heavy
S3 8V FL DSG 310ps, road noise is a joke
RS3 8P Rubbish
C7 RS6 Fantastic car but missed playing
GTR R35 800bhp, too extreme, crazy fast though
911 Turbo Remapped. Hated it
F10 M5, awesome but no rear grip
RS6 V10 700BHP crazy
Porsche Cayenne Turbo S 600bhp

I’m pretty sure if you plug VCDS in you can go to info and it will show flash attempts and the date
