A groan or sigh from the engine bay after light throttle

Hello,

I've noticed that at about 30mph when I come off the throttle, there's a slight 'groan' or 'hmmmmm' from the right hand side of the engine bay. If I slow down to 25mph and gently accelerate, releasing the throttle at 30mph, I can hear it every time. It's not very loud but I wasn't aware of it before.

Has anyone experienced anything similar? Does anyone know what it might be? I thought it might be a turbocharger with a dodgy bearing / imbalance or surplus boost being exhausted.

Any thoughts?

Also, I'm getting a vibration / judder when I brake from 75mph, so I think a pair of discs will need replacing, not sure which end. I've looked at all discs and there's hardly any wear. Could it be anything else?

Turbo? Vacuum leak?
And vibration likely to be discs - first sign is typically lightish braking from speed (classic is motorway slip roads). Felt in steering = front, in seat = rear but often surprisingly hard to tell....
May not be new discs required, just pad deposits, which you might be able to fix with some heavy braking. Or a skim if loads of disc left.

Do you think it might be a leaking / ruptured solenoid valve? I've definitely not fitted any of the Forge ones. My memory is bad, but not that bad.

Who do you use to service / repair your car btw?

I think you are referring to the same thing.
My car has now 60,000km and it runs just fine, but the noise is still there.
Dealer confirmed the car is OK.

Regarding the discs, just do a couple of hard braking maneuvers and it will stop.

If you had a boost leak I think you would notice the loss in power.

I used to service my car at the main dealers. Might not be the cheapest or even the best but they have known to pay for new engines outside of warranty if its a genuine engine failure and has had full main dealer service history.
For brake pads / discs etc I'd take it to a local specialist.

Has your wife climbed under the bonnet?

Your discs could just be pad material built up on the surface. They need cleaning with an abrasive disc (not grinding disc!!). The noise could just be the recirculating bovs, check your air boxes are together properly.
