I think it has to be lighter otherwise it will be at a serious disadvantage in that class. would struggle so see how they would have added 140kg of mass, given its the same engine and one would hope is using more advanced light weight material than the C7.

I hope the performance version when it comes is just a remap for more power and not full hybrid like in the Panamera turbo S ( which whilst having 670 hp is 400kg heavier, which offsets any performance gains and gets destroyed by the regular F90 M5).

I am going to be at the Frankfurt show tomorrow so will ask them there what the score is.

Different engine, it’s the VAG common 4L V8. Other uses give an indication of the available power.

M5 and Panamera aren’t the same market so not that relevant.

Any extra weight could be for the mild hybrid battery. Not sure if this adds much weight but I've yet to meet a light automotive battery.

Not seen it confirmed anywhere before. But that sheet says it is 200kg heavier than before.

They better have done something very special with the handling to make up for the extra weight.

:audibash:

Dissapointed to read that.
How can this be 80kg heavier than the E65 S 4 Matic Estate ????? What is Audi doing????

Like Mikefish said, it must be that battery they have added. What is the point of it as the Mercedes' co2 and mpg is better than the rs6's anyway according to their official numbers anyway, probably thanks to the extra weight.

Still want one though :bigblink:

As I wrote on other topic Audi will be losers this time as they won’t going to beat m5 and e63s

I spec'ed up my 2015 RS6 on the German Configurator at the time of buying (just for interest - as I was baffled by the price of a car I had seen at Audi Munich, which seemed very expensive). The upshot is that it was way more expensive than buying the same spec car in this country.

Audi - and all manufacturers - sell the car at the price they can, there are no set rules for conversion of German price to UK price, etc. If Audi think that they won't shift any units at £x they will adjust the price down as required until the price is right. There are a lot of shenanigans to mask the whole process and maximise profit, one of which is what is standard equipment and what is optional. Audi UK spec'ed the "basic" RS6 C7 way up for the UK market with many items that were optional in other markets.

Purely personal speculation: I don't think Audi can afford for the price of the C8 to be too much more than the C7. Already, car sales are suffering a massive slump and Audi need existing C7 owners to upgrade, as well as new faces to come into the showrooms. I cannot see many of us upgrading to what is essentially the same car if it costs 15-20% more than the one we already have.

What's your guestimate for UK price? I was thinking about 82k?

It was £78K for the basic car when I bought mine. I am going to take a punt on £85K for the basic C8, but I haven't got a clue and am probably wildly wrong. Although, don't the government take a fair chunk nowadays (especially as this new car is up a group on tax bands)? If that is a significant amount, add that to my guess.

I think the E63 S is around 100k - so I guess no reason they would not price around that.
