Misfire

Took the car out for a drive this morning and felt that it was down on power. When I came to a stop, it was misfiring on idle. As if one cylinder wasn’t firing. Rev counter was jumping slightly and a slight judder from the engine but no engine management light on. Getting it recovered tomorrow to an independent specialist to get the diagnostics on it. Hoping it’s something simple like spark plugs or coil packs.
Reading through the forum I see that there’s been a few issues with C7 RS6s and misfires. Is there any common problems that cause this? Car is a late 2015 with 26k on the clock. I took out an independent warrant with it when I bought it 6 weeks ago so have a bit of piece of mind if it is something worse.

fingers crossed its an easy fix. injector failure seems to be getting more common, engine out job to get at them

Will find out tomorrow when the car gets dropped off at the garage. I’ll update once I know. Still thinking / hoping it’s something simple.

It’s just turned 4 years old now. The misfire is not that bad and is not throwing up the engine management light. Hoping it’s just something like a dodgy plug or coil. I’ll hopefully have an idea mid afternoon if it shows anything on the diagnostics.

Hi Joe,
I have had my 6 for about 3 months now and after about a month on one specific morning, after start up, it came up with a stop\start error and then when I pulled up at lights the eng management and EPC light came on and I could feel a misfire on tickover. I pulled over, turned off and on again and everything was fine....
I did a bit of research and spoke to my indy and he told me that it could be that the battery was on its way out as they have seen the stop\start error many times as a first sign of a dying battery....
I bought and fitted a new battery and the problem (touch wood) has not returned...
See what your diagnostics shows up, but if nothing and you get the problem again, it might be worth just investing in a new battery as I always think they have a 4-5yr life span.
I bought mine, exact same as original from Tayna batteries for just under £200, simple swap out.
Keep us posted.
Cheers,
Lig.

My missfire, rough idle and lack of power turned out to be one failed turbo (shaft broken) and the 2nd close behind (bearings goosed). No engine light either

Any info on this yet?
Holding wood with my stage 2 S6 (used to have issue, power hesitations on semi boost low buildup, but was able to sort it out with OEM plugs and exhaust modification -> X pipe instead of H on the milltek).
What i do noticed is and experienced a few times of the 3-4 years i have my car...the car doesn't like low fuel! Each time it is very low and i fill her up, the next day she tends to idle roughly and misfire.
Each case is differently offcourse (but especially if the car isn't throwing codes)....but just sharing

.
Hope it isn't a turbo failure (please do 5k oil intervals as the oil screen is a know cause to starve the turbos....see Paulm

).
Plugs every 30.000km even if audi says 60.000km

.
Don't push her untill she is warm enough and give her time to cool down

.

Just managed to get the car dropped at the garage there. I’ll update on the findings once they have had a chance to look at her. Sorry sight seeing them on the back of a low loader. Had to get it picked up as required by the warranty company.

Don’t know 110.000 km on a car yes it’s stock no issues maybe uk gets defective cars, always doing oil change every 15.000 km at Audi dealer
P.s I bought used rs6 in Germany at official Audi dealership in 2016, it’s 2014 04 model pre facelift, was with 51.000km in good condition, now have it for 3 years, so far changed one tpms sensor and one lambda zond, that’s all

Yeah Lig, the ceramic coating makes it so much easier to clean
