Fuel octane

Hi all

I've noticed, and read that the RS6 is very sensitive to how it runs on various octane fuels, the highest octane fuel I have at a local station is 97. Will it be ok to run the car on this? Or finding a shell garage to get v power 98.

James

97 will be fine - though the guys at MRC only recommend Vpower or Momentum - I'm on 1st name terms with the petrol pump attendants at Tesco :biggrin2:

Thank you :) Reminds me I need to fill up today!
I may pop to the next town, they have a Tesco's and a Shell in the next town after that (having petrol in Malvern at all is a big step! )

Don't forget your Tesco club card for points - you'll rack up loads in no time :)

Will do :)

Do most Tesco's stations have momentum? Or is it location dependent?

Found a Tesco's about 15 minute drive, certainly worth the journey to have the 99, feels like a different car after using the 97!

It flies on 102 - but then a valve inlet spring broke in my pre f/l. Engine rebuild fortunately under warranty :bigblink:

I've only ever found it in Germany... I think BP rolled it out at some stations a few years back but it was apparently expensive and didn't sell that well so they pulled it.

What do you mean engine broke because of high octane? Are you serious?

I am not saying this was the cause but I had just driven 500 fast miles with Aral 102 in the tank when it happened so...
